hey sid, gotta ? for you......on this var...did you notice a slow down because of the added wieght over the oem one..(its aluminum but is heavier than oem)....or is my cvt just that far out of whack.......she seemed to take a mile of straight before she was up to speed good......just top, really no low or mid...

No, I didn't notice that. It was a lot smoother, but my old one was on about 14,000 kms. When I put that variator on I already had the 82cc kit on so that might have had the torque to compensate. If you are taking too long to get up to speed maybe try lighter weights.

think a 1500 would be too much for a 50, I am using a 1000 on my 82cc, the 1500 fly springs are good.
When I took out the 8.5 rollers and put in the 7s I noticed a big improvement, that was with the stock torque spring. Now with the 1000 torqu spring I am running 6 gram sliders but will need to go back up to possibly 7 or maybe 8. I haven't done anything with the scoot lately, have been tied up with the car, a bit of a story in that one.

...that 1500 is a tough spring...

..verging on a race setup....

..ain't seen many here that could run one...

i have ran the 1500 contra before when i had the oem var...it gives a bit more top actually, slowed take off some....shaka suggested the 1500/9g set up...8s came with the var, have 7.5 today, felt tug, slow take off, hit "3rd" softly and quickly.. i liked the 7.5 with oem hit mid hard, even tho slower takeoff, hit quickly, this var is diff....

Yeah, you go too heavy on the torque spring, then you need heavier rollers to compensate, you are getting to a point where you are fighting yourself, if you are getting belt slippage the you would need to go that way, but otherwise you would be better off to keep things as light and free as possible.

A heavier torque spring would reduce the top unless you have heavier rollers to compensate, going from stock to 1000 I have noticed a smll drop in top speed, at the speeds we talk of here, small is still significant. Hey, no speeding fines.... yet. ;)

What torque spring are you running now?
