G'Day roadcruiser, I have just fitted a dimmer switch to my ZX50, I sourced it from ebay, it is not hard to connect. I just took the blue wire  out of the plug to the headlight and ran that to the dimmer switch, then identified the high and low beam output from there and plugged them to the headlight high and low beam connectors. I realise this may not be very clear but I will open it up tomorrow and take a couple of photos and try to explain it a little better.

Thanks that would help. I just really want to know what the objective was to not have a dimmer switch. I have other stuff to ride at night

G'Day roadcruiser, I have taken two photos, but they are not very clear. The wire on the right is blue with a white stripe, this is the supply to the headlight. On the other side of the plug there is a blue wire that is not used, this goes to the high beam on the head light. The white wire goes to the headlight low beam. I removed these three wires from the plug so I could reconnect the plug to keep the other two wires connected. Using 2.8mm spade connectors I ran the blue with white trace to the dimmer switch supply. I then located the high and low beam pins and ran wires to the blue (high beam) and white (low beam) on the headlight. Nothing is cut and all is reversible

Thank you sir. I copied and pasted and printed both pictures and your message. Will check my scoot as soon as I get a chance. The left hand handle with switches is available. Maybe that would work. I cannot believe they would make a seperate harness for the few scoots without a switch. I am not sure I can buy a handle without a switch hole. Oh well, so goes the Asian decision makers. I still like the scoot.

G'Day roadcruiser, I think they consider the scoots to be an around town form of transport and so don't consider high beam to be nessecary, but, I want it and was lucky enough to be able to get it quite easily. It is not so much a different harness, just 3 wires to go with the switch to plug into the existing harness. On ebay there is a person in England wrecking a zx50 that has the dimmer switch, I think the seller's name is Ravenscraig. Fiddling with these scooters is good therapy.
