Stock (CST) tire pressure?

I've still got the stock CST tires on since they're new and seem to grip reasonably well
but I wanted to hear what tire pressures you ppl were using (12") on your Agility 125
with the stock, CST tires.

I've had 1.5/2.0 bar until yesterday.. then moved to 1.75/2.1 since the manual says
1.75/2.0 for solo rider, and 1.75/2.25 for 2up, and I'm in the 90kg/200lbs category
and always have a top box on and at least a few kg under the seat and/or the top case.

I also often ride 2up so I figured 2.1 for the rear would be fine.

However, yesterday I managed to do a nice power slide in one sharp corner (fun!),
and today I almost lost the front. It slid for a few cm before regaining grip (put my left foot down).
First close call.

I figured the funky shape of the CST tires will probably react dramatically to pressure differences,
but this was a bit unexpected. I lowered the front to 1.6 and will see how it goes from here.

And yeah.. I know I should probably change the tires ASAP.. but I've got a bigger bike that needs
new shoes a lot more at this time and those cost an arm and a leg.

Think that is best to use proper tires and pressure....


1.6 is too low....

will be a bit problem when breaking and slalom....dont wanna try....

Proper? What's proper?!
Do you think that a 55kg rider, and a 120kg rider need the same tire pressure?

I've done over 1000km with 1.5 in the front, then tried 1.75 and almost low-sided
an hour later. That's why I posted the question. I can see how 1.75 would work
with better/stickier tires, but with the CST it seems wrong.

If proper is 1,75bar for 80kg person and 120kg scoot, thats 200 ,,,, ergo scoot is 120kg, ur 90kg = 210kg

Thats equal 5% higher pressure for 2tires equal 2,5% for one, then it is 1,79375 bar.....not lower...

CST are like other tires, need same grip at all weights used...china or not china....(not applied at wet surface)..

NOT LOWER..... ???

My experience says math doesn't apply in matters such as this one.

CST tires have a very weird profile (a lot of reviews on that around the web) and are a lot
different then most tires I've tried and used on many different scooters I've ridden, and I've
ridden over a 100.. so..  ;D

So, you're saying that EVERY SINGLE tires that fits on the Agility should be pumped up
to the same pressure?

nope....

we are talking about china sh** CST.....maybe weird but same tech calc always applies..

but if used same dimensions as serial, its likely to be same pressure.....

not always...maybe harder tires need lower - softer need higher pressure....dont u agree?

i am really a car and bicycle person....motorbikes ride about 4year...so no offend..peace...

It's all about the personal preference of the rider. The max pressure is on the sidewall, an I try to stay within 6 lbs. plus or minus of that. It can get all techy to go by physics on tires, but I like mine to feel a certain way. If I cannot get them to feel the way I like w/ different pressures, I go to another brand. I have owned my zx for 2 1/2 years, and have had three sets of tires on it to find the set I like. Any one want a set of Chen Shin, or Kenda 12" barely used tires?

No thanks zombie, I have a cheng shin front to get rid of, plenty of tread. unfortunately I have spent too much money elsewhere. I can show you a skid with the front about 1.5 metres long. so much for front braking power.

It does not prove that 0.25 bar extra pressure caused that.  This would not stand in the court. :)
