I have been thinking about you set up...the carb can only take in so much air so what you are doing is putting in the max air intake you can into the carb, I am surprised you arent getting too much air to fuel ratio.  could you explain exactly what this is doing as far as performance goes, how it works?

..the carb, left alone to be the slave of the piston-created vacuum, will only draw what air the piston demands..the amount of fuel drawn into that airstream is determined by the carb's jets...

..with the blown air induction, using forced air from the cooling fan, i am forcing air into the carb, and ultimately into the cylinder..

..as an addition to this, i removed a section of te exhaust muffler's baffle, in order to allow a bit more flow of air out of the cylinder..

..with the increased air flow and density (to a small extent) it was necessary to increase the carb's jet sizes, to introduce a greater amount of fuel into the mix...


..DON"T RUN LEAN!!!...


...overal performance has ben as good as I could ever expected..I have more horsepower, quicker take-off, flat land speeds increased, a bit better on the hills now, i can feel more throttle response during mid speed ranges..and i really do believe that i've pushed the speedometer as far as it will go...i can feel speed increasing at top end, but the speedo goes no further...gotta gps for accurate results, so i'm not quoting any speeds...

Thanks for the explanation this is very helpful to me and hopefully a few others, did you ever finish perfecting you project i know you said it was still in the works.

So, turbo charger is the next logical step. :)

That may have been my project you are thinking of.  I've got it about done, just haven't had time to get another test run on it.  I was also waiting for my new clutch and stiffer springs before I did another test run with my "notched" variator.  I might be able to get another test run and some pics by this next Sunday.

Slingers set up qualifies more as a blower than a turbo. The coolest part for me is there are no additional parts to draw hp off the engine to create the air flow. The best part is there is no need for a waste gate to dump excess boost! it can simply blow out the air filter on deceleration. W/ soooo many ag/50's around I can see a potential for a "Boost Kit". How about Boost Lite, all the gain, and only 1/2 the calories...

Slinger put a patten on it and market it, then you can buy everyone on the forum a new scoot with a rocket strapped to the back of it!
