Speed Increase for Agility 4 50 stroke
« on: April 04, 2010, 09:54:24 PM »
I'm new to the forum and just bought an Agility 50 for my wife. She's laging on start up and top speed . We'd like to increase them just a bit. From what I've read here I'm assuming that I can by changing the weights to rollers , about 5.?, would help the acceleration? And that an unrestricted CDI would give it more top end, or possibly a larger carb jet ? Am I on the right track here? I don't necessarily want alot out of it just some to help her keeping up to the 2 strokeers.
Any help would be greatly appre3ciated.
Thanks,
Tony s

4 strokes just won't keep up with 2 strokes , with the exception of wordslinger . And who knows what all he has done to his a50 . Good luck .

bogging on pull away is pretty standard for a restricted A50. If you bought it new theres a chance that you found two parts in the seat box, a variator boss and a #82 main carb jet. Swap those out and you'll add a few mph. I havent bothered to do the cdi cut yet because just those two changes are good for an indicated 40mph on the flat. Just be aware that EVERY SINGLE TIME you strip down the carb (which you have to do to swap the jet) you're going to need to tweak the idle mixture and idle speed - and you'll have to do the same when the weather changes by any significant level as the seasons change too. Just read my little odyssey on the "tending to flood now the weathers changed" thread. I had valve clearance issues with mine and a potentially gunged up carb but the principle is the same. Strip the carb, retune the bike. Every time.

Tonys, You are on the right track. The scoot is restricted by law, not by nature. Once you cut the cdi your engine will be free to rev, and you will gain 4-5mph on the top end. Lighter rollers will allow the engine to create the rpm's to get you there quicker. The larger jet will provide the fuel to allow all this to work. http://www.stadiumyamaha.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx   Go to the driven pulley section on this site, and you will see part#22105. It is another limiter in your scoot. The shoulder on that boss can be machined off for a few $'s, or you can replace it for about $35.00 for the same effect. Your scoot will do 45ish w/ no troubles. Don't mess w/ the 2 strokes tho. We have more secrets. Someone posted a link for AG/50 jets today for Kymcofan. I forgot to bookmark it, but the forum search will get you there. Welcome to the forum, and realize your wife will catch on when you try to tell her you just have to "check it out" one more time.

The big difference is in a longevity contest the 4t will win out. Firing every other stroke does have it's own advantages.

like Zombie said, and I admit 2t are a blast to ride!!!!!! but longivity, I'd have to go with 4t, little more tuning every-now-then, again longivity wise better.
