Will it work for me?
« on: May 21, 2008, 02:46:44 AM »
I am about to purchase a 2006 People 250.  I am not a small guy.  I am 6'1" and weigh in at 360.  Will this scooter work for me or am I destined to spend 50 dollars a week on gas for truck?  Someone please let me know before I drop 3 grand on this sweet ride.

BigBoy250 (well hopefully).

After finding some information on the maxi-scoots forum.  I decided to take the plunge.  Needless to say, I love it.  I am still getting used to riding 2 wheel motor vehicles, but what a better place to start.  By the way, this is a fat man machine.

 :D

I think it'll be a fine choice for you, unless you need to do a lot of interstate riding. If that's the case, I'd seriously consider stepping up into a 400cc or more bike.

I'm about 215lbs., and the People 250 will get me to around 85mph on a flat. It cruises very comfortably at 60-65, though, and I like knowing I can goose it to get that extra 20mph when I need to have it. I've done about 40 miles, total, on interstates with it so far, and was only unnerved by rush hour on I-40W in Nashville.  :)

Not looking to start any trouble within the family but does anyone have an opinion as to whether the People S 250 would be better/worse than the GrandVista250 for commuting to work on the highway?

I have had mine for 3 months and 4,000 miles and am nothing but happy with it. I am 6' 3" (official Army barefoot height) and it fits me better than any other 250. My wife and I used to ride a lot together (now she has her own scoot) so that made us close to 400 lbs together, I think it will handle a big guy just fine.

Have fun!
