Dr. Pulley sliding weights
« on: April 16, 2010, 01:46:56 PM »
I installed the Dr. Pulley sliding weights (SR2822 28gm).

It definitely gives my xciting a more sporty feel. I can't tell if the sliding quality of the weights cause the better performance or simply the reduced weight (28 grams). The xciting revs differently and has a overall better acceleration and pickup speed. It does not effect top speed. Unfortunately it does effect fuelconsumption a little
I noticed that the roller weights need to broken in, but after that, they really come alive.

Look for ' scooter_wolfpack ' on Ebay. It cost me $ 58,- including S&H.

Next stop different windscreen and Malossi variator, belt and clutch. I may buy them on ebay Italy. Look for ' amr-1984 '. Seems trustworthy; their feedback seems okay and prices are lowest I could find.

Btw, I'm not in any way associated with Ebay, just passing on some info

Must be the sliding motion, installed a 31g sliders and acceleration is much better than stock rollers. Keep us posted if you are having problems with it. On my 2nd set of sliders and the problem seems to be happening again.

Dr Pulley sliders have been in mine for about 15k miles. It took me about two or three tanks of gas to get the feel and quit over revving them. Once I adjusted how much I twisted the throttle, gas mileage went back up. Lots of comments on an older post

Thanks for the post.  I emailed them and my Dr Pulley sliders are on the way.  $57 with shipping.  Can't wait to try them out.  I put them in my wife's Scarabeo 500 and they did make a marked difference in response and smoothness on take off.

Scootertrap is out of stock and says they are no longer available. I don't know if that means they will never get any more or that they are out of stock till the boat from Taiwan shows up. I tried them first... that is where I got the ones for my wifes S500.  I also tried getting my dealer to order a set and he says they appear to be out of stock everywhere, that is the size to fit the Xciting 500.   :(

My Dr Pulley's got here today.  I installed them this evening and took a test ride.  Oh baby...   They make take off much smoother and brisker.  ;D  Added about 500 RPM but seem to settle in about the same at cruising speed.  I will give them a longer workout tomorrow.  Can't wait for the ride to work in the morning.

Looks like gas mileage has settled in around 45 MPG with the Dr Pulley.  Down from around 48.  The scoot is much smoother at lower speeds.  Since it's a bit higher on the torque curve take offs, hills and twisties are more fun.  That is a mix of around town and back roads with a little bit of expressway driving.  I like em.  ;D

I don't think so.  If they try to pull that, I'd declare shenaigans! ;D

My dealer says they will not affect warranty.  In fact he tried to get them for me and couldn't find a supplier with them in stock.  I do have an exceptional dealer here in Louisville at Station Park Honda/Kymco.

Here's my note of appreciation for my Kymco dealer in San Antonio. Mechanics take pride, owners plan rides . . . reputation of The Motorcycle Shop was a major factor in my decision to purchase Xciting 500
