People 150 Stalls at Cruise Speed
« on: April 19, 2010, 09:08:35 PM »
My new scooter started stalling since taking ownership.  It will start and run great, except every 0.5 to 8 miles it will stall.  After coasting to the side of the road (Very Dangerous Situation) it will restart and run fine till the same thing reoccurs.  I tried riding without fuel cap and adding carb cleaner (Seafoam) without success.  After 80 miles it is back at the dealers.

The dealer is working on it, considering the magneto.  I read of a guy who had this problem which turned out to be a bad CDI.

Before returning it to the dealer with 80 miles on it I verified there was not a vacuum occuring in the tank by riding w/o the gas cap...still stalled then restarted.  Seafoam was added to fresh gas and no improvement.

I posted on the other thread that I believe it is the stator, or the cdi. The stator is easy to verify w/ a multi meter, and if it passes the tests... the cdi would be the culprit. I have had both go too many times on too many scoots to not recognize it. Either way it should be a warranty job!
