CVT check & oil change & filter : DONE
« on: May 06, 2010, 05:52:14 PM »
hello, as i was saying my scooter was very "trembly" and i went to check my transmission yesterday.
the clutch was disassembled , cleaned, greased inthere with xado , used a little sandpaper on the clutch bell and on the 3 ferodo (you know what)
i gresed the rollers inside as they were good and round with no wear (strange) ....& so

i filled the scooter with racing oil XADO Atomic Synthetic Engine Oil 10W-60 !!
+ treatment in gear oil

bought today original air filter .. almoust 20$  :o

but a strange noise at full throtle was irritating me (rattle way ugly)
after 3 hours of mounting/dissmounting the cvt cover and testing the scoot. With starter , without , without cvt cover, without rubber gaseket, with chinesse parts and original, with washers and without ( IT WAS HELL ON EARTH ) i seemd that the center stand was vibrating !! Now it`s taken off.
so if you hear strange noise from cvt take the center stand off problem solved i guarantee.
( before it was rattling at ~60 kmph )

so i`m rather happy now but ...... it seems that the scooter is reving and looss in acceleration. I guess it`s the clutch that`s affected by sandpaper work :-S ... I rode it ~50 km but still persists. Or maybe the leaking grease is causing this (it`s good grease that sticks to parts) ? PLS need advice

...you gotta be really careful about introducing grease into your cvt...

..the ONLY things I ever grease are the kickstart mechanism (very small amount) and the bearings inside the clutch assembly (again, very small amount)...

..nothing else within the cvt should be lubricated...

you should NOT use grease on the rollers. It will fly out, and wind up on the belt, and everything else inside the cvt. Dry Molly lube, or Graphite are what works best. I would take it all apart (again) and use de-natured alcohol to clean out all the grease. Including the belt. That should get you back in shape.

i`m thinkin` that`s the reason...but at the test without cvt cover it seemed nice and clean. It`s true that he used a bit more grease and it could be throwed out by the spin. This is the only logical explenation.

Oh and new NKG Spark plug :)

what do you say about the oil ? my dad says it wont last because it only for racing and i must change it sooner..

Racing puts loads on oil that you will never see w/ your scoot. Therefore your oil should last forever. No offense, but I would move to another country, and post him in 30 years to tell him how well the scoot is still running. Just kidding... If you live/work/see your dad, count your blessings, and say yeah dad your right! Then go smoke some hippie grass, and sneak into your girlfriends house to tel her what he said.
