There are alot of pony's left in this baby ran it with out the aircleaner cover another up jet would have this thing bringing the front tire up at will, but i rather have the top speed,to many vac lines i don't uderstand the perpose of YET to go open air!  It will go fast for a relitivly cheap price all let you all know when i get time to open that cvt.My people 50 was gps'ed at 60mph with it running badly and the wrong weights in it.this was its cruising speed till i tinkered to much at a 1/4 throttle  once to speed wasnn't great off the line but could run pegged 1 1/2" pasted the 50 mark with over !/2 throttle left when it was at its best,no gps at the time to verify top speed. It will be there again.
Kymco peoples too many ;) I'm not an expert just a full time hobbiest.

I know I'm getting into this thread late, but I just joined here. We got my wife a SYM HD200 over a year ago.The only negative I can think of is that it has no kick starter to use as a backup.Since you can't push start an automatic, I do think they should ALL have a kick starter.

For a 200cc the HD200 is a powerhouse. This scooter would handle all day freeway riding without getting ruffled, so you don't have to sit down with a map and plan all back road routes (though we do prefer back roads anyway).

Oh-the other thing-the importer, Carter Brothers burned dow a while back, so finding parts could be a problem for a while.I think there are lots more Kymco dealers around.

Take care, Jon in Puyallup, Wa.

I don't know if anyone is still following this thread, but my sense is that the Kymco and the SYM are so close that it all comes down to your local dealer.  If you have one or the other nearby, get the bike they carry.  If you have to go out of town for either, it's a wash.  Seriously, support your local dealer.  I think I might prefer the SYM, but my local Kymco dealer is terrific.

For me....This is so true! When I purchased my Kymco People S200 (back in 2005), I really wanted the SYM HD200, but the dealer was simply too far away for me. The SYM HD200 is a better scooter for the money. Both are super reliable. It came down to where the dealer was located. I sold my S200 in 2009 & scored a Suzuki TU-250X motorcycle, then solid it & purchased a Kymco GT300i last week.
