well i have time to install the new jet and the new filter but.......

i was wondering one thing what is the small hose on the back of the air box that leads to the motor

what is it for and what do i do with it?

...leave that open, just double it back towards the front of the engine and secure it so it don't flop around...

..it's the valve cover vent...

...naah...all that hose does is, vent the slightly positive air pressure from your valve cover...

..the pressure is created by heat, and the introduction of oil into the cam / valve area of your engine..

..basiclly it keeps your scoot from blowing the valve cover's rubber seal...

..just take it loose from the valve cover a cpl times a year, and blow thru it...

..and wipe around the open end of the tube from time to time just to keep everything nice and clean...

Just a gimmick! You can add a real oil can  http://www.amazon.com/CCAs-PCV-Oil-Catch-Can/dp/B002P4TIJS   The idea is to put this in series from the engine crank case vent, and into the air box. It will keep the air box clean, and allows any oil vapor to condense. The valve on the bottom is for draining any water vapor that condenses. No need for all this on a street scooter tho!

Mostly for pro race set-ups w/ lots of blow by from high compression engines. Airplanes use them as well.

..i will say that every scoot is different from the others...

...i would suggest starting at 84-86-88, or so, and do plug chops to verify what you have...

..the science involved, is tuning.... to what your scoot needs for optimum performance...
