Arkie, could you please explain what a poker run is for those of us who don't know?  And, yeah, bet some harley riders who see our Xcitings secretly wish they had one.   :D  I do know one guy who has both.

Way to go, I love it. There's a few HD's around my hood and those dudes give me the glass eye when I zip past. I had the cheek over the weekend to pull into the HD dealer to have a word with a friend. Now this is their turf and imagine my pleasure when there just happened to be a open slot right in the middle of the row of shiny black and chrome HD's in front and all the dudes sitting around sipping whatever HD dudes sip at 10h00 on Saturdays. I slipped my blue X500 right into that open spot and walked past smiling and greeting the guys. My buddy told me to beat it because that was the reserved parking for the chairman of the board or pack leader or what ever they call the main dude. By then there was quite a crowd around the scoot and I heard some pretty tough talk about plastic toys, blow-up dolls and some really bad words that would make my mom blush. I think they were on the verge of picking up the scoot and dumping it in the trash bin so I beat it wishing them all a lovely day. Such a sweet bunch of guys. Regards from Durban RSA.

The local HD dealer here is now also a BMW and Vespa/Piaggio dealer.  It is very interesting on a Saturday morning to see scooters, BMW's all mixed in with the Harleys.  What fun...  :D

Whell... I'm not Andy, and I've only been involved in ONE poker run (a benefit to help an uninsured scooterist who got clobbered by a careless cager, of course), but here's how ours worked.

We started a group ride. At the meeting point, we were dealt two cards, like seven-card stud. At each stop on the route, we drew another card. At the end of the day, the best hand (winner) claimed the prize (in our case, it was cash, and immediately donated to the cause).

Our run was for the local Childrens shelter When all the guys got their bikes up to a hundred miles per hour and I stayed right with them is waht got them the most. The we left our second stop when we got out of town I was the second bike in my pack I layed on the throttle pretty hard and walked away from them they lost sight of me for awhile. It was great. Talking about nasty bikers I do not fear no man because on the inside all of them are truely cowards. Because they have to have their crew there to do anything

I've been riding with the local chapter of the Southern Cruisers for two years.  At first I felt odd with so many big bikes, but there is no question that I can keep up and even do better than less experienced riders.  Some riders are showing interest in my bike, particularly if they're trying to get their wives to ride independently.  We can have as many as 100 bikes come out in good weather, only two or three big scoots and a trike.
Went on a "Forbidden Ride" this weekend to raise funds for Big Brothers.  It was a lot of fun and met a lot of bikers from far away places.
I will go on a police escorted charity ride in July.  200 bikes, 3 1/2 hours.  More fun.  I've never been on a poker run.  Something to look forward to now that I, too, know what it is.
