You can surely get either kit from scooter works. Remember Tronics re orders when you do. Works may have them in stock.

...there should be a formula for determining what belt length would be needed if your variator is 5mm greater in diameter...

Measure the circumference of each one, and add the difference to the belt length.   I think...http://www.csgnetwork.com/pulleybeltcalc.html    determine belt length from pulley size   Just google that, and you will find it

I believe that is right. 700's=length    18=width    28=notch type. Gates also makes a kevlar belt, and you can direct order one at any given size. I'm trying this one as a spare as Malossi usa is out of stock on mine.   http://www.gates.com/    http://www.powersportsmax.com/product_info.php/products_id/14054

Hey Slinger I lost track of the post w/ the belt size. I have compared the oem #'s and they are different. The searching I have done give me #'s taht are every where from 739-752mm for the same belt. That may be why so many others have blown belts that are claimed to be correct. I had the same trouble when i installed the Malossi Var before doing the clutch. I would suggest getting the full kit deal, and the belt that matches. It seems the most reliable way. I will look more tomorrow

..you're probably right, but who really knows what belt is correct...

..i'm beginning to wonder....

Just take the OEM #, and google around that. you will find all sorts of claimed sizes. Take any one of them, and google that. it goes in circles w/ no clear winner. I think one of the formula programs will be the best approach to something that makes sense. If you can use 1 to get your stock size then you can work it from there to modify 1 or the other.

...i've seen at least a half-dozen different claims....

..i'm sure they must all "work", but one size must be "optimum...

I just realized I only got you by 4 posts. (w/ the spot)   Perhaps an old belt wraped around both pulleys, and cut in the top center can give you a good idea. Going by the old # add the missing mm's to a new #

Just a thought! Contact Malossi, and fill them in. They may do a Gratis swap, or have an idea for a Malossi over-range kit for you. Try one of the phone #'s for the headquarters in Italy as they are the ones in charge. I realize the var doesn't owe you anything, but it may be interesting to see what they say. Tech support would be my first attempt.
