The weight of my rollers on my 2007 carbed X500 is 30 grams. I have heard that the newer bikes have gone to 33 grams. Is this true? I called the importer, and he said they didn't know, and that Kymco does not have or will not give out this info :o ??? Does anyone know? Or can someone weigh one? This would really lower my RPM's at 65-75 MPH. Does any other company make roller weights for the Xciting 500 other than Dr Pulley? The size is 28x22 at 30 grams. I may be looking at buying a new bike in the future, and I would like a bike that is pulling less RPM's at free way speeds. The 33 gram weights may do the trick? It would be nice to stay with another Xciting 500 :-*

  have you tried sliders, the same Wt. should give you lower RPM.
 have you looked at the variator slides for the rollers ,.  are the slides clean all the way out , where the rollers slide, and have you looked how high the belt go,s on the drive pulley,  you do that with the cover off.  and the bike on the center stand,  and rev it up,.  I even shaved 1 MM. off of each sides of the pulleys, because the belts are not wide enough 24 MM. wide and full spec.  width is 25.2 MM.  I use to wonder why my bike was always at 7,000 RPM and over at 60 MPH.  now I can cruse at 55 to 6,000 RPM at 60 MPH,.

Tried Dr Pulley sliders, variator exploded, as it did with many other Xciting 500 owners. Dr P pulled them from market. They just don't/won't work with the X500 without major problems? Dr P makes a round 31 gram, but that's all I could find on market. I don't have equipment nor knowledge to shave pulley half's.  :-*

Sissy Mary, I have been thinking of getting an engineering company to manufacture an insert of 3 grams onto each roller,since 33gr rollers are just not available .
Even better is a buddy with a lathe😊

how about high temp.  glue, put a little inside of hole in a few layers, and try it out

777, let me know if you can find someone to do so. And DD, I have thought of J B Weld. But if it came off while in operation, it could destroy my engine if it came apart.  :'( :-*

I once cut old school cupboard clothes pipe (hang the clothing on via hangers) and jammed them in, but they did move and scrapped the sides of the "runway". The other problem, they were very light, maybe 1 gr only. Glueing is an idea, but I am keen on an engineering solution.
My thoughts,The insert will be slightly wider on the one side, so it can be tapped tight into the roller, some glue too, just to be sure.

  how much does a 30 gram roller Wt. at 8,000 RPM at a 2 1/2 " dia.
 how much does a 33 gram roller Wt. at 8,000 RPM. at a 2 1/2 " dia. is that what exploded the variators  with the sliders,  was it the sliders  or the Wt.

The Dr P sliders were 31 gram. The problem was that some how they would lock up, or get stuck in the ramps of the inner variator plate/half? This would put side pressure on the boss, cause heat build up, and there went your belt.  :'( :-*

Did anyone find 31gr rollers? I am done with the 28gr Dr. P as I am blowing through gas like mad! Hope to make this switch to increase my MPG. Posted highway speeds here are 65-75mph, and my bike red lines just too easily. Thankfully my belt looks great so I want to pull these sliders out before damage is done.

Your best bet is to find  a friend with a lathe, and machine off a bit of the metal part of the stock rollers, on the inside Dia, evenly across, like a sliver.
The Xc500 rollers are unique from my search, so you have to think our of the box here.

Once you have  second set of stock rollers, and machined some weight off them, then you can really start experimenting to get that perfect combination.

Are they heavier now? I don't mind heavier weighs that as long as I am back to almost 45 MPG again. One of my local shops wants $90 for the weights and they don't even know how many grams the weights are. I am not thrilled about that.
