People S 50 4T speed and performance
« on: May 31, 2010, 03:23:30 PM »
Hello everyone, I'm the happy owner of a new 2009 people 4T and love the ride.

I would love it even more if i could raise my top speed; the shop I bought it from told me they de-restricted it, I do 55-60 km/h instead of 45 km/h (transport canda restriction), but  I would love to take it out of town on country road and to do so 70-80km/h would do better ! I've talk to them and they explain me that the only way of getting more speed would be a engine upgrade, else is more of a money waste. Reading you guy's on the forum passing the 45 mp/h !
I'm thinking, yeah !

Thinking I'll use it for long ride (50km+) to get to work, I'm not a racer dude! ( people is more comfy than racy! )
What's your recommendations to reach for more top speed
I've read on the forum:
de-restricting the boss drive ( I don't even know what is the boss drive is, any how-to guides? )
Muffler restriction ( and I don't look for noisy mod! )

Anything stock, I'm willing buying extra parts.
I need more experimented tips and advice from experimented rider.

I've got good mecanics skill,
it's my very first scooter!
And I think i've choosed the best one, really, me and my girlfriend just can't stop using it together !

Thanks reading me !

Hello Chemicald,
I live Montreal area and i also have a People 50S 4T 2007. Mine is de-restricted, i have 5.1G rollers weight inside my original Variator.
My top speed on a flat road, no wind i hit 72~74 km\h!
Soon i'm going to buy a other Variator. Me to i chack for 80cc kit, on Ebay i see some kits under 200$!

Vermi has the right idea. Lighter rollers, and stiffer fly springs on the clutch will add some pep to the bottom end, and a k&n type air filter, w/ a larger main jet should get you another 5mph on top

Merci Vermi !
Did you get the scoot in MTL ? What is your shop ?

I haven't got time to check my CDI yet.
So just with 5.1g rollers, how much was your speed improvement, from the stock ones ?
Do you know originals weight  ?

What is the boss drive mod, I'm trying to figure out what is the boss drive exactly !

I want the scooter to be faster, but yet, reliable!

I'm thinking of a k&n filter, is this problematic under the rain ?

By the way, do you know with a 80cc kit if I need to change my stock exhaust ?
That looks like the mod !

thanks!

http://webservices.motorsportdealers.com/parts/partImages/KYM/2/03/05/0017.Gif   Part #22105 is your drive boss. It has a shoulder on one end that has to be machined flush or the boss can be replaced for about 30.00 US. An open element filter is no problem in the rain unless you are riding in a monsoon, and then the ignition becomes the real problem. I think you should stick around a bit more before jumping into a cheap ebay 80cc kit. I promise you the scoot will self destruct, and you will swear it was the scoots fault for being a cheap piece of Schtuff. There are several high quality kits available for the people, but none of them will be under 700.00US dollars complete. You will need the kit/exhaust/jetting/rollers/springs,and good rubber to get what you want. The scoots that are doing 75+kph, have more in them than you think. Start w/ the cvt, as it will give the most bang for the buck.

I' d never go for a cheap engine !
Totally agree !

Do you have a part store to refear zombie, and/or parts you would go for.
About the boss, is there a mod part or it as to be machined in a shop.

thanks for the reply dude!

I have been dealing with Malossi USA On Line for several years, and from what I have heard they are closing shop! I'll do some looking around for a good kit, and price for you. Right off the top of my head I would be looking at the Malossi cast iron (durability), Polini corsa (good power at a usable rpm range), or the Arisol aluminum (best price for an aluminum jug kit. Moped hospital may be a good place to look at the arisol, but I think they are fairly high priced. Scooter works is a good resource, and scootertronics has the worst rep, but they do have good prices if you want to wait, and wait, and wait some more. There are several pipes that can be used, and that choice is really up to what you want the scoot to sound like, Everything from an open bullet type to expansion chamber designs are easy to find, and fairly well priced. Do a little searching, but try to stay w/ the proven brands, and don't be tempted by the cheap stuff.

They truly do have everything. Shipping from anywhere to the US can take some time tho. Many times your 1 item will sit in Customs because of something else in the shipment.

I think I'll first go with a multivar variator from Malossi, it comes with 6gr rollers.
And I'll add a performance air filter.
I'm not sure I want to work around the carb and change the jet for now.
( or will it be essential according to my upgrade? )

Thanks for the referance guy's !
I think I've found a importator in Canada, makes things easier for me.
They import and distribute parts in Canada : http://www.itlcanada.com/
Have a look, it's in canadian money, makes stuff cheaper for some people.

( or will it be essential according to my upgrade? )    Yes a filter will require jetting. Lighter rollers will also increase the rpm's (good thing) so up jetting is a benefit no matter how you look at it. (except maybe mpg's)  Check out http://jiangwayne.com/scooter/index.php   . The best of the best in my opinion. Honest/reliable/strong commitment to scooters/VERY creative designs/and centered in world class racing!!! Lucky for you they are in Cann-adia! They are functionally based in Tiawan so some deliveries can take a little minute. Its best to hit them w/ a big order of assorted parts so you don't have to wait over many orders.

I live south-sure of Montreal.
I buy used, only 2500km and it was de-restricted!
The other owner paied 500$ to de-restricted at the dealer...
Original rollers was 8.5G!!! :o

Last week i order 72cc kit and a variator from ENVIROMOTO in Usa.
In the kit a K&N filter, but i'm going to keep the original air filter, i don't want a noisy scooter...
It's around 10 days to receive the parts.
I give you news! ;)

Vermi!
