Hi everyone, I'm new here!

I own a people s50 4t. Got about 900 km on it yet. Bought it new, a 2009. At around 500 km, got my first tune up. The dealer did something to the stock CDI unit. Before, top speed was an indicated 59 kmh (54 gps). Now, its 69-70 kmh ( 63-64 gps). Cool! But still, I find it somewhat lacking going up hills, slows down to 35 even 30 kmh in some cases. Too slow to be safe. So I ordered some 7 gram rollers.Stock are 8.5 gr. From what I understand, I should get better acceleration and thus, better climbing ability without sacrificing top speed, since the variator seems to reach its maximum at about 50-55 kmh. Whith a 7 gram it should reach it around 60-65 kmh. From what I read, the little engine develops its power at 7500 rpm and its torque at 7000rpm. Configured with 8.5 gr rollers, the variator seems to keep the revs in the 5000-5500 rpm range until it reaches its maximum at which point the revs rise to 7500-8000 rpm. Funny thing, fuel consumption rate went down the moment the CDI was unrestricted. Before, got about 150 km out of 4,5 liters of gas. Yesterday, got 165 km out of 4,0 liers. All in all, a great little machine, just got to fix the hill climbing thing. Its important, I live up in a mountain!

Hoping this helps anyone.

Wow the same weights as the 2t. I would have thought lighter. If you open that pipe up a bit and the air box you may be able to squezze in the 7.5g, Thats what ran on mine the best until the big bore kit. Ps Welcome to the forum!

Tried both. First, the air box. There is a significant collar that restricts air inlet. I removed it, but the engine does not seem to accept too much air.It chokes when you give it gas. Guess to do so, it has to be rejetted. Since the jet seems to be quite a hassle to get to, I'll wait before I get there. As for the muffler, I took it off. I read somewhere that there could be a sort of washer welded at the manifold junction. Noting. I dont believe the muffler is such a restriction on the power since the revs seem to go up there. Also, from what I know, 4 strokes are not as sensitive to muffler changes as 2 strokes, especially if you do not begin by a good top end job involving cam reshaping and serious carb tuning. And in the end, I do appreciate the quietness of the little mill. Makes it a relaxing experience. So, I'll stick with the roller change for now and see what happens. The store just called me yesterday to let me know they jus got those 7 gram ones. 3 days, not bad!

As for big bore, I did not get the little thing for that kind of use. Got it for my wife who enjoys a nice quiet relaxing ride to complete her regular errands. At an indicated 70 kmh, its got plenty of speed. Accelaration on the flat ground is even acceptable in urban traffic. Just want more power to go up hills.

Dont worry about the more power thing, my own bike is a Suzuki DL 650. I just love the little scooter in town.

Ya a rejet would be needed the weights will help,as for the exhaust, this is what I do if you remove the ring and rejet. Should give you a little more pull and remain quiet

Nice job with the crayons art, give zombie a run for his money ;)
I reckon my exhaust is causing me some considerable loss, do you think that would be worth trying on a two stroke? I have drill and am ready to try just about anything, except buy a new exhaust, money is an issue.

Am happy with current top speed, just want better pickup. Put a bicycle speedo on last night but need to adjust the pick up sensor. Will be interesting. K&N is on the slow boat from usa

Yeah, I bought an exhaust for it, but, I think it is not too good (being polite).
