80mph from 50cc. Is he lying or am I misinformed?
« on: March 30, 2016, 05:25:07 PM »
I had a guy to ask me the top speed of my Xciting 250. I told him 80ish. He then told me that he was able to do the same speed on his 50cc Chinese scooter.(don't remember the brand). I looked at him really strange , and he said that he had de-restricted it and done other modifications. I didn't argue with him. I simply said "wow"! But I don't believe him AT ALL!

But I don't know too much about scooters other than the one I have. I wanted to say BULL s#%#. But I don't cuss. Is there anyone here who believes that you can wring 80 mph out of a 50 cc Chinese scooter?

He didn't seem to be too bright. So I suspect that his speedometer is in km/h. If so, then he would actually only be doing about 49 mph. AND I suspect even that is an optimistic speedometer.

I can believe 49 mph. BUT 50? I'd have to see that for myself.

Is he lying and or stupid? Or am I missing something? Lol.

I have followed my GF  at 50-52 mph on my GPS, on a down hill she was on her 49cc chinese scooter and I was on my V-strom, I have ridden her scooter only once and it was downright scary when the speed gets to 35-40mph

my first bike, a 1966 Honda Super90 blew the engine when I was going down a steep hill 80mph, my next bike, a Honda CB125S was only capable of 65mph max

He is lying! I had a guy tell me he had done 165 mph on his Kymco Venox 250. With a straight face! He also said it had 8 cylinders and 4 front were used up to 60 mph and then all 8 were on line above that! Venox only has two spark plugs! That guy was lying, too! OK, OK. You MIGHT get a 50 cc to go that fast if you pushed it off the top of a real tall building!

80 @ 50cc...
I guess a piaggio runner 50 with a bbk tuned cvt and lots of performance parts might get close. But thats the only chance and that aint a chineese non brand scoot.

Maybe downhill in a hurricane. 80 mph with a de restricted 50cc Chinese scooter, I think not. Unless he spent major $ to have high performance modifications. Even then I can't imagine a 50cc engine being able to produce the power needed to go that fast. The rider too would have to be very light in weight.

The consensus here seems to be that he's lying. Well, my cousin is either dating a liar . Or she's dating a guy who's not bright enough to realize that his speedometer is reading in km/h . Either way, she has a real "winner" . Ha, ha,
