Hawk, rattler and me 😱
« on: March 30, 2016, 10:22:19 PM »
Today while riding the back roads a large object was spotted descending rapidly from my left before turning to come straight at me. It was then I could see it was a hawk with a snake in its talons. As it came at me at a high rate of speed, I'm thinking a collision is unavoidable. Moments before certain (from met perspective) impact and at the height about mid point of my leg shield the hawk dramatically swerved to its right while releasing the snake. Thump thump as I ran the snake over. I couldn't believe what just happened. Was I being used by the hawk to help kill its prey? About half a mile down the road I found a spot in the road to make a u-turn. As I rode back to the scene I could see the hawk circling above. Directly below where the hawk was circling a rattle snake was coiled up in the middle of the road. A guy in a pickup truck must have seen it too as he also made a u-turn right behind me to take a closer look.

It happened so quickly. Only when I turned around and saw that the snake was a rattler that it began to sink in what had just happened. I often wondered while riding the backroads would I come upon a venemous snake sunbathing. Never did I imagine I come upon one the way I did. 😱

Mr. Bum,
There's a guy in Seattle who regularly sees the Care Bears when he rides.
A SYM rider in Idaho has Elmo riding with him.
Karl Malden rides his Metropolitan with a guy in Denver.
Etc.
Hope these flying snake birds never come to Ohio. I have enough trouble with Republicans trying to Beam me up from the night sky.

(amazing story, though! Thanks for sharing.)
