Kymco parts or universal?

Hello all! 

I am about to replace the Variator and weights on my bike and I was just wondering if the circlips and o rings are Kymco only or if they are standard sizes I can find locally.

This is the first time I am tearing my bike apart myself but I feel fairly confident after following you gear heads and watching YouTube videos.  I plan on much swearing and some blood to be shed but I'm really excited to finally mod my bike!

Let us know how easy/hard it is to replace the drive belt, as that might be my next project.

changing the belt or sliders takes about 20 min. after you know how,  with power tools impack drill driver,  small drill for the small bolts and nuts,  3 12 volt drill, dremel  driver,.  variator holding tool, and don't forget the lock tight blue,

To answer your question: We probably don't know if they are standard sizes. Might be good to order them with your other parts. Hate to have the bloodletting stalled for the want of a missing c-clip! (besides - c-clips can fire off to hidden spaces in a garage - you might bleed out before it's located by your helpers)

Thanks De Dee.  I got most of these tools.  As for the Blue Loctite, upon applying it and tightening down the screws I know there is curing time for the loctite.  Question:  how do I test the new belt? 

(wanna keep the bleeding to a minimum)

New belts aren't tested, or run in. They meet specs, are installed properly and run perfectly from new. Never heard of a new scooter having an issue with the belt. The clutch might chatter but that is not down to the belt....just faulty launch technique by the rider.

To check if a belt is no longer serviceable you measure its width against published specs....if below specs you replace it. Also look for cracks and/or chunks missing from the old belt. If any found - toss it and replace with new.
Breaking a belt while underway can cause a lot of damage, or not, depending on how it explodes.

I did mine at the start of last year's riding season, so it's been awhile but I don't remember any c clips or orings.  I installed a belt, Dr pulley sliders and blowed out the clutch.

So far trying to find any videos on servicing this bike has been frustrating.  I know I'm not the only one looking so I think I will set up a camera to record everything.  Hopefully someone will benefit from it.

My parts have shipped so I hope to get everything done within the next week.  I'm also changing the  tires so wish me luck.

KYMCO repair videos are pretty popular when somebody shoots one --- and you'll be working on one of KYMCO's most well loved scooters!

As for tyres I don't recommend that you do it. Especially if you haven't done it before. It's much easier if you take the wheels to a tyre shop. You won't be saving much anyway.  Plus they'll balance the tyres for you. Some bike shops will change the tyres for free if you purchase it there. That's how it's here anyway. But if you are determined go for it.

Making videos is good idea.
