best belt for my scooter
« on: April 04, 2016, 09:06:18 PM »
Well,My belt shredded. I'm between a Mitsubashi ( theY make the OE belt. That's what was on it) and the BANDO. I can get the Bando a little more quickly. But I'm not certain of the quality. I ride HARD about 50 miles each way, 3 or 4 days a week.  My Original belt lasted for nearly 8000 miles. Anyone familiar with Bando belts? I can get a Gates or Dayco for less and more quicky, But I've seen too many complaints about them on the Xciting 250.r.

It looked good 2000 miles ago. But it shredded WITHOUT WARNING. Well, last night. I did notice that my top speed was about 4mph lower than it was 2000 miles ago. I did NOT follow my instincts a couple of weeks ago. I ALMOST ordered a drive belt for my xciting 250. But I procrastinated. As a result, it SHREDDED on my way to work this morning. Thankfully I was only 3 miles from home instead of that 20-miles from home between nowhere and nowhere else.

Mitsuboshi belts will out last all other belts ,  I put 20,000 miles on one belt , and it still looks good , 2,011 downtown,  on my van I put 200,000 Kl. on a mitsuboshi timing belt, so I like them,.

From all respones on this forum....I purchased Kymco belts from Kymco parts houses which come sealed in a Kymco bag. Period. Too important a part  to mess about with.
Top quality parts.

I second what Stig said! Kymco parts all the way. You cant go wrong with the original Kymco Parts. I learned the hard way.

I just wish there was a way to get one in less than a week. Seems like all the KYMCO belts from reliable sources have a week or more shipping time.

So

I actually was planning on buying a belt soon. But a few other things came up. So I put it off until next month. HA! Well , the scooter said otherwise

Well, this is the plan. I'm buying the Bando belt because I can get it by Friday. I'll install it and be able to ride THIS weekend and until the "real" belt arrives. The REAL Kymco belt from my dealer will take approximately 2 weeks. I don't want to wait that long. In a few weeks I'll be getting a new rear tire installed by the dealer anyway. So I'll get him  to order the Kymco belt and install it when he installs the new tire. I'll then keep the Bando belt as a spare. I know that's a lot of changes. But I want to ride now. Lol

Mitsuboshi is a Kymco belt . for a downtown 300i,    Bando is for the small CC Kymco scooters

My dealer recently installed a Malossi belt on my Kymco Like 200i. I'm hoping it service life is similar to the OEM belt. I'll keep the bb posted when the time comes to replace.

Installed the Bando belt today. So far, so good. I guess my old belt was worn or stretched the whole time I had it because my cruising Rpm's came down. And my top speed increased from  approx 75 to 80+. Still planning on purchasing and installing a Kymco belt when I replace my rear tire fairly soon and keeping the Bando as a spare.
