Spare parts.

I posted yesterday concerning my belt shredding. It will take a while to get a new one. And it made me wish that I had purchased a spare one like my mind told me to. But I'm now wondering what other spare parts do I need to keep handy just in case? I know that spark plugs are a given. But what other parts commonly fail with little or no warning on a 2009 Xciting which I need to keep an extra on hand "just in case"?

I keep at least one new nut & washer for both ends of the CVT, crush washers for the oil, one of those 4 pc kits for the oil strainer (if your scoot has one - the screen, big threaded cap and its 0 ring, and spring - about $7 eBay for the lot - the soft cap/nut shreds if you put them on too tight I hear), head, tail and brake light bulbs, fuses, extra key, air filter,
And if you will be putting a lot of miles on your scooter - a set of rollers (KYMCO) or sliders (Dr P). I added a complete (KYMCO) clutch and bell for my LIKE200i because the price was good and my scoot has been in the Kymco line-up for a number of years, brake pads - but these seem to last a very long time on the LIKE and may never get to use them.
I have a box of other spares that I collected when I was going thru my lame "Pasta on the kitchen wall, and see if it sticks" process to fix a TPS issue that the dealer was ignoring. (coil & lead, injector, fuel pump, vacuum lines, etc.) And two working stock YUASA batteries (long story)
Better to use your head - while everything is still working. Not much goes wrong with these KYMCO's, but there are consumable parts - like any vehicle. And some parts we might screw up....CVT nuts, oil screen assemblies, keys.

Thanks Stig. Very useful information. I don't want to ever get caught in this position again.   I HATE being without it. Why didn't this happen while it was too cold to ride. This week the weather is PERFECT. And this weekend is one where NOTHING is on my schedule

Until I build up some more funds, I'll keep my old tires as an EMERGENCY spare since they won't be completely worn when I replace them. Hopefully by mid summer, it will be our busy season at the job , and I will have more for discretionary spending. Until then, I hope the potholes, nails, etc will stay out of my way!
