It only makes sense! The jug on a 4t will only increase torque thru the volume of fuel you can flo thru it. The head shape, and valve size can be manipulated, to increase the flow to a larger degree. Add a cam w/ higher duration, and in effect you have increased the working displacement of fuel/air. If it were mine I would find an old head, and a good machine shop. Have the biggest valves they can find cut into new seats. Keep the stock proportions/ratio. (100mm intakex150mm exhaust)=1000mm intakex1500mm exhaust. Any good valve can be cut to length, and any seat can be installed. ! would imagine 100-150 bucks out the door for a full race head. Just a thought.

I thought about that but the combustion chamber is cut to a larger diameter. The piston in the jug kit may be set up differently also. (clearence for the valves). Maybe try looking up a shop that does motorcycle heads to get an idea on punching out a stock head. It may pay to buy a new stock, and have it worked. I imagine a pair of valves from a 150cc, and new seats would be around 50 bucks. the machine work 50-100.? the head 100? That would be my route.

The thing is its a trade off between reliability and mpg when you mess with these engines. if you just derestrict them properly they stay reliable with only a slight increase in mpg. I see big bore kits for next to nothing on ebay but why bother. There a lot of hassle for not a lot of reward. If you really want more performance just put the bigger motor in it. Its got all the bigger bits in to be reliable.

Reliability is always an issue, if you upgrade only one part the rest of the engine wont cope for very long.

Joeboy has a valid point. Y bother if you are going to blow it up? The answer for me is ....... Getting 13-20HP from a 3-6HP engine means the world to me. ANY DI<K head can put a big engine in any scooter. (Yeah I spelled scooter) Getting more HP from a smaller engine is the goal. I am trying to find a 125cc engine right now to fit my 50cc. That way I don't have any loss while I build my 50 into a 125 that will blow the wheels off any 250cc stock. I was afraid to build the HP into a frame that cannot handle the torque, but I figure at 53 years old if I crash, and burn on a scoot!!!!!!!!!!! So frigin what! At least I got done what I wanted

...45...55..65 mph..it'sall gona hurt like hell...

..dang..ur 53?...

..i've had a screamin' lil 4-stroke for a while now...she's ran wide th' fck open for the last year...comes a time for upgrading ...

..of course, bearings and seals will fail over time..it's just going to happen when you contnuously turn these engines to their max...

If its just a hobby and a project to see what these motors can do then great, but if you want a fast reliable scoot for commuting and regular trips it makes sense to go for the bigger motor with the bigger transmission etc.
