Non-Kymco Dr Pulley slider install
« on: May 25, 2016, 05:58:04 PM »
Some of us will look at pictures of almost any scooter stuff....

So,
First time tearing into the CVT of the Burgman 400 to install 18g Dr Pulley sliders and slide pieces. Stock rollers are 19g.
 Three things:
1) $12 Harbor Freight 12V impact gun DID remove the two 24mm nuts using only a spare 12V scooter battery! (did not use a holding tool, or have to hook it to a car battery)

2) Get everything out of the way and start it before buttoning everything back up : I tried not to -  but I did have the belt pinched and the nut quickly loosened when I ran the engine. Re-torqued it and it stayed tight.

3) sliders which are 1g lighter than stock rollers will increase rpm's (= increased acceleration) below @40mph......and will begin to significantly lower engine rpm's at @ 50mph and above.

So, they work as advertised: increased pep off the line & lower engine speed on the highway.

I benefited from smoother take offs because the Burg does not like low rpm's - and my engine was somewhat more relaxed on the highway.

PS: 3 yrs ago I installed sliders that were 1g lighter than the stock rollers on the LIKE200i - but did not like the increased rpm's around town - and I don't ride WOT - so went to sliders equal to the rollers and liked the results for my riding style. For whatever reason - the LIKE200i is very very smooth off the line and while cruising!
Eventually it was explained to me that sliders act like 1g lighter rollers. So if you replace 14g rollers with 13g sliders, you have gone down 2g's not 1g in behavior. Next yr I'll probably try stock wt (19g) sliders in the Burg.
