Thanks for replies.
Run-stop switch? Battery connections? Ground points?
Karl
Scooter doesn't have a kill switch to my knowledge. Battery seems ok. Not sure about ground points.
If you got spark and do get fuel by sucking, maybe the intake manifold or the gasket between carb and cylinder head has leaks and not creating enough under pressure to suck fuel to the carb. While you have the carb out, check those as well for visible cracks etc.
Fill the carb by sucking the under pressure hose and see if it starts but dyes soon.
You might want to check the diaphragm of the carb as well. And try to open the carb again from the other end as well cos there might be something stuck in the jets.
Put some crc on the screw and press downwards with force with the screwdriver and see if the screw opens. If not use a drill and get a new screw.
If that fails;
you might need to check if valves are okey but that takes a bit more tools and time. You'll find videos on youtube about taking apart a gy6 cylinder head etc.
Where do i find the " gasket between carb and cylinder head"?
I was thinking of just getting a new carb and inlet manifold to be honest cos the carb seems pretty messed up and i can't get the screw out without spending money on something to do it so i may aswell buy the parts.
If the valves aren't ok then will that mean big money to replace?
Haven't got a compression tester and not easily rented in the UK. Wish i had all these tools. I'm feeling it is some kind of vacuum leak/compression issue so not sure what to do really.
Test cylinder compression. If reading does NOT rise after squirting a little oil in the spark plug hole . . valve seats may have carbon deposits causing marginal compression. May be able to rent a compression tester from an auto parts store . . 10mm spark plug adapter is required.
