As you say, heavier rollers are just not out there.
My cheapie solution:
That spacer in between the variator plates, it sits on the inside of the outer plate(with fins). I made one and made it two thirds thinner, and gained about 300-400rpm lower.
Removing the spacer caused a bad rythmic vibration at 120kmh,so this compromise has worked for me.
Also, I filled the center of the rollers with epoxy glue to get extra weight.
Adjustment is possible by drilling a hole in the expoxy, so a sensitive scale is useful here.
I now find at 120kmh,revs are at 6000.
145kmh,7500rpm.
