Downtown 300i Changing Spark Plug

Hello all,

I was going to put in an NGK iridium plug in my downtown.  Do you have to take the seat bucket off to change the plug or can you get to it from underneath and not have to take out the bucket?  Thanks!

I took mine off, but it was easier access going up between the side and center stand and looking through the "air vent "    Located on the side, between the foot rest and sea.It's a little uncomfortable, kneeling or laying on the ground, but taking the seat tube out did not provide better access.

Thanks Rich, that was easy.  Took about 10 minutes.  I was expecting the original plug to be really tight but it wasn't bad at all.

Glad to hear, I also did the TPS/ ISC reset the other day, because I really didn't see a big difference with the iridium plug. Took a ride to the Statue Of Liberty, this morning and noticed it definitely ran better. Nice idle and no hesitation on acceleration.

That must have been a bit wet. Did you flood the engine? :)

I am guessing not so if you take a really, really, fast run off the pier. :)

Has anyone ever used an E3 performance plug? Any good? Any difference between that and the iridium?

TANware, me too!!! E3.38, should be getting it today or tomorrow. I was just curious if anyone else had tried one. I honestly didn't see any difference with the iridium plug. I doubt this one will make a difference either, but we shall see I look forward to your review, I will do the same.

I found, with high test fuel, the engine seemed to fire more consistently. Performance did not improve but MPG did slightly.

Got mine in today. First impression is the idle went down from 1,700 RPM to 1,500 but this could be a cold engine. after a good warm up and run in the RPM seems back up to 1,700. Took it for a short ride.

Now the wind here is 10-20 MPH so I took it to the local interstate for a 2 mile run with and into the wind. With the wind at my back I saw 95 MPH indicated and there still felt like there was some pull left over, into the wind was 87 MPH with occasional nudge to 90 MPH. I should note at 65 MPH indicated the stationary solar radar signs will show this bike doing 65MPH, for however accurate they are. Also the bike at 75MPH was a breeze to keep up.

Went for another ride, longer haul and it ran great. Found at dusk with the wind calmed down on a flat at WOT got too 93 MPH indicated and I think that was about all it would go. Much more than I care to use this bike at. On our GSP here I found keeping with traffic at 70-75 MPH the bike does well.

Thanks for the update. I received mine yesterday, but didn't have time to install. Did you do a TPS/ISC reset also? The last time I changed out the plug, the engine icon would stay lite, for longer than usual. Did the reset and went back to normal.

I did not reset as wanted to see if there ws any change to the bike operating as it was.
