Why won't my Xciting 250 start???

My Xciting 250 won't stay started.  It cranks like a champ, and will actually catch and run - for 1-2 seconds.  It will do this 100 times if the battery holds out that long, but it will not stay running.  It's not on the kickstand or center stand, and I'm holding the brake.  It happens the same whether or not I apply throttle, although it does better with no throttle. When it does catch, it dies fastest if I try to apply throttle at any level.  Oil level looks good and it's clean.  The tank was low - I added clean fuel, that didn't help.  Doesn't seem like the spark plug, because it does run for a few seconds, right?

Possible factor: Last December my wife dropped it.  I picked it up after about 2 minutes, and it started right back up and she rode it home.  It then sat idle for 6 months till I tried it last month, then this problem was observed.  I figure if it started fine right after the drop, nothing about the drop could be a problem now, but I don't know.

Any ideas?

Sounds  like it just needs inside the carburator cleaned. Did you use regular pump gas in it? If so, the ethanol has probably gunked up the jets from sitting.

Any youtube video on cleaning carbs will get you there.
Photograph everything as you progress. Work on  a paper or plastic so parts don't get lost.
Be very careful with the gaskets, Sjlide a Stanley blade under it if it sticks.
Use a single strand of a wire to poke through the Jets.
Watch out for the float bowl, and it has some parts you must not bend.
One other possible issue is the autochoke.
It has a wax that is heated, that moves a small rod. Check that is working.
