Jaxon and I got out again today for a ride to town and stopped at an independent motorcycle shop, CHP Motorsports. They've got a nice collection of older Japanese motorcycles and Monkey bikes.

The last time I saw a MACH III it was sliding off of the hood of a car in a parking lot at Ft Sam Houston, TX.
A guy was showing off with his new bike. Revved it up, dumped the clutch --- it went straight up in the air, dumped him on the ground and came back to earth on top of the car.
I slipped onto my Honda 350 and motored quietly away......
I heard that Kawa dealers were soon required to give new owners instructional classes on this rocket of a bike. Too much HP and too light weight.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

The wheelie machine. This one is a 500/3 cyl. Didn't they make a 750 also? Back in those days they were highly revered along with the Norton Commando. They were a bit expensive for me and out of my league with my riding abilities. I was riding a Yamaha Catalina, a 2 stroke 250 parallel twin UJM.

Here's the official Honda Monkey bike. Probably a 50cc model.

I think I'd like a Monkey Bike, a 2016 Honda Grom.  Stopped by the Honda dealer today with Jaxon and they feel big for a small bore 125cc bike.

That Honda Trail 70 sure brings back a bunch of memories. A friend of mine had a pair, and we rode those things all over his pastures when we were about 12 or 13. Great fun! Thanks for all the awesome photos!

Oh man a Honda Trail 70, now that brings back memories. My brother had a candle apple red one. Our grandma would joking put on the helmet and sit on the bike going vroom vroom. She was all of 4'3". She loved PTW.

Glad you guys liked the vintage Honda's. Never got to ride a Trail 70 but looks like allot of fun for trail, and off road riding. Karl, I loved the Super Hawk and had the next best thing, a 305 Scrambler. That was during the late 60's as I lived in Huntington Beach, Ca. Lot's of special memories riding Newport Beach, Balboa Island, Laguna Beach. I even body surfed the Wedge in Newport Beach a few times and got pounded in the surf. Good times guys, good times.

I wonder....did Bridgestone motorcycles morf into the tire company?
A couple of classmates in medic training in the late 60's  had those things.....can still remember their "ringing" engines. 2 strokes?
In a perfect world I'd own nothing but two wheeled Hondas....such has been my experience with them going back nearly half a century.

Honda Grom.

Isn't that cute. I thought they looked small but then again I ride 650-700 cc scooters, lol.
