S 200 Cracked PAIR Tube
« on: July 17, 2016, 10:14:56 PM »
Howdy folks,

After running the Scooter Cannonball I took my S 200 apart for a round of maintenance, & found a couple things.
A tight exhaust valve, & a busted PAIR valve tube
(The shiny tube on the front of the valve cover here http://www.partsforscooters.com/core/media/media.nl?id=13874&c=ACCT120207&h=634b27dbbbe36c4cc7a3)
I'm not against bypassing it, but generally like clean air so don't mind fixing it either.
Any thoughts either way, or quickie ways to fix or bypass?

Thanks
Tromper

It looks like it got hit,   if it just cracked it should be a warrenty thing,   to fix cheep cut off the tubing leave 1 or two inches and install a piece of rubber hose

Sadly it's used, & long out of warranty.  It also sheered right at the flange in front of (vs. on the side of) the valve cover, so the alternative would be to just block it, but I'm not sure what else would need to be blocked.

Is a new part valve cover too expensive?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Nope, I may well go there.  A little tough to find, but I did find a couple spots that "say" they have it. I need a brake handle anyway as well so I may go there.
I'm poking around locally a bit first since it's a really common GY6 part, & thought I'd see what others had to say since I know removing the system is very common on other GY6 applications.

If it's a "standard" gy6 engine, replacement parts are cheap and plentiful.  Check with knowledgeable vendors like Scrappy Dog who know the parts swapping business.  I find it's easier just to cut off the tube with a grinder and seal it up.  It makes no difference.

I ended up ordering one from the dealer.  It wasn't too expensive.
The bike runs notably smoother and lacks the aroma of exhaust wafting behind the windscreen now.
