Eeee seems a bit scary...  I'm not sure if its the double sided bolt thats stripped or the nut thats on top of the bolt.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

The nut just turns in place, so does that mean the nut has gone? How could i get the nut out?

hey if its the top threads its pretty common you can just replace the stud,to get you by right now you can put 2 to 3 washer over the stud to get you to some better threads and just snug them down piece of cake  ;D

Art is right, and to remove it you can drive a putty knife under the nut, and pry up as you twist it w/ a wrench. Sometimes a pair a vise grips will help too

Should those nuts be really tight? Because i'm scared to strip the other one...

Thanks guys, i think i'm going to try to do this myself.

Not really tight at all. Thts why I recommend sealer. You can just snug them up, and be sure it is sealed. I would say 4 ft lbs torque is plenty

Alright, so i got the damn nut off with a dremel in just under 2 hours.  My back is killing me, but i feel great that i got the damn thing out.

Now, how do i go about taking out the stud?  Its completely useless now that i've taken a dremel to it:

There is a spacer between my manifold and cylinder.  Well... there was:

Apparently i torqued it down way too much and the plastic spacer cracked.  Without the spacer, the carb is way too close to the cylinder.  Guess i will have to order a spare.  The o-ring on the manifold inlet is broken, could i use liquid gasket as a substitute?  And btw, is liquid gasket the same thing as sealer?

Thanks guys, i just needed to cool my head before i could get back to fixin' this thing.

The plastic spacer will need to be replaced or at least sealed, you dont want an air leak there, replace the o-ring, not expensive. The stud should just screw right out and you should be able to get one at your local hardware store or auto store. Good luck, it can be frustrating but is worth it.

The stud is on there pretty tight.  My big pliers just keep slipping.  Whats a tool that could get it out?

Try heating it with a heat gun on high.  Use a big pair of vise-grips to grab it.  With that method you should be able to get it out relatively easily.

A little  heat will help and some pb blaster penitrating oil,if there are enouph threads left I usualy use two nuts tighten them to each other then back the stud out.You could cut some new threds for this to get it off or if you have the dremmal tool cut some flat spots to get a better grip on the stud,be sure to plug that intake first don,t want to go from bad to worse.Your almost there.

Damnit, heat gun, wd40, and clamps don't work.  Need to get myself a vice-grip.  Meanwhile, i'm waiting for the spare parts to ship from taiwan... expected arrival date is in july.  UGH!

I just noticed your avatar is very fitting right now. Those studs should have lock tite on them so you may need to use a propane torch to really heat it up.

Hmm, the other stud came out without any problems.  I bought a stud remover, see if that works.
