« on: August 03, 2016, 03:49:06 AM »
So i just picked up a 2013 with only 1500 miles on it, but my top speed per the speedometer is only 57mph.

I weigh only 160lbs so is somethi g wrong with it?

Hi there. If you can, you need to verify your actual speed with gps. The actual top speed should be around 55. Meanwhile two cheap and easy things to do would be use a little Seafoam and check tire pressure. Hope that helps.

So put seafoam and 93 octane gas and checked it out on GPS and well darn it, its practically spot on.

50 showed 49-50 on gps
and to0 speed on 57-58 showed 56.5 on gps

so any more advice. is this what i should expect. however i must say the windsheild has been removed because it broke but have one on order. Should this help me get more mph.

Top speed of 56 mph is very close to what you should expect. You should be able to pick up a couple more MPH with windshield. Maybe even touching 60. If you think about it, over 55 on a 150cc scooter is not too bad. I top out between 55 and 60 on my People 150 depending on the day. I weigh 200 lbs and have a windshield. I took my windshield off one time and it did make a difference in my top speed. I HIGHLY recommend a windshield. My People seems to be designed to cruise along happily at 45 to 50.  Let us know how it goes when you get the windshield. Best of luck and be safe!

If you are looking at putting on the OEM windshield then it shouldn't make a difference in top speed. They are so small, it's really just for aesthetics.

Without sounding like I`m trying to point score here guys, my super 8 has only done 250KM and will happily sail up to 60-65mph. It reading 105KPH and trust me on this, I`m being careful as its still breaking in??
Maybe my speedo is out?

I suspect your speedo is off, but I could be wrong. Best to verify it with GPS. I would caution about running too much rpm for any length of time during break-in.  Get that first oil change at the recommended time or sooner. It is the most important maintenance item you will do. Let us know about the speed if you can verify it. 105 kph sounds a little fast to me..

Yes I did my research on break in. I have been running it on with varied revs and changed the oil for more low quality stuff at 100KM, then next change will be 500km then 1000, 2000, 3....   and so on.
When I was reading that speed it was on/off, on/off the throttle all the up.
GPS?  You mean on my mobile Nav app?
If so I didnt realise they were that accurate.

My GPS app on my Android phone is spot-on accurate. My Kymco People 150 speedo is nowhere near accurate.

Any feedback on my break in method? I would be interested to know as there are so many conflicting ideas on this

After re-reading your first post, the scooter had 1500 miles on it when you got it. The break-in has already been done. Avoid WOT for sustained distances and just keep that oil changed.  Other than that, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

No sir, I wasnt the original poster. Mine had 1km when I got. Changed oil 100km. Variable revs, hard take offs. now has 280km and will change oil again at 500km then finally will put quality oil in at 1000km

Sorry Mattler. I missed that you were not the original poster. Sounds like your plan is a good one!
