 ??? >:( :( :'( g`day from down under iwas wandering if anybody could help i bought a venox 250 late 2009 and iam having trouble with it maintaining top speed when i try to hold it at 110kms or 65/ 70 mile hour when it comes to a incline it will lose power any sugestions would be great cheers

Maybe a dirty air filter?  Has it been through any of those terrible dust storms you have down there? 

How many miles are on the bike?  Has it had it's valves adjusted at the recommended time?

Your scoot is set up from the factory on the conservative side. Check the valve adjustment, and consider going to an aftermarket exhaust. You can then increase the main jet size, and add a free flow air filter. That will get the engine up to par. The cvt can use lighter rollers, and stiffer clutch fly springs. Those will bring up the bottom end performance. you can add 7-8 mph, and get there alot quicker.

Zombie must've thought he was talking about a scooter -- understandable mistake since he posts in dozens of scooter threads. 

It's a 5 speed bike, yeah. 

Well, valve adjustment is the only thing that comes to mind on such a new bike, aus.  It's probably recommended at the first or second service, anyway, so why not mention it to the dealer now.

It's not really even broke in well yet so maybe stronger after more kms on it.

G Day aus250..

Glad to see a member from 'down under' riding/owning a Kymco Nox 250

Here is your answer:

What you have is a bike that is geared really to high in 5th gear. Its almost a 1:1 ratio, an 'overdrive'. A real issue for a new rider with steep hills or going into strong winds. This is about the only issue about this great bike.

What we at piwyr.co.cc recommend is a rear sprocket replacement. Many have done this mod and ALL AGREE it is the best mod you can do for the bike. We even set up a couple shipments from the USA resource to Spain where they have had the bike since 2002.

With out this mod your only choice to step down a gear to 4th to get back into a power band. The problem with this is it revs the engine really high (no issue with any damage as the Nox has a rev limiter) which hurts gas milage.

Get the rear sprocket upgrade and your Nox will feel like you have added cc's !!

A different transmission, but still the same remedy that zombie suggested, adjust the gearing for better performance.

There were several other posters here w/ the same dilemma. All that could be found was a front sprocket for the bike. PIWYRCOM, what is the tooth size of the sprocket you carry? I will send out a few emails to let people know you have them. How long have you been carrying them?    PS Thanks Sid! Always looking out!

G`DAY GUYS THANKS FOR THE INFO ON THE O TORQUE ISSUE IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME A HEADS UP ON WHERE TO GET A AFTER MARKET EXHAUST SYSTEM AND REAR SPROCKET  IT WOULD BE COOL AS THE AFTER MARKET PARTS FOR THESE BIKES HAVENT HIT DOWNUNDER YET BUT I WILL GIVE THE DEALER A HEADS UP ON THE VALVE SETTINGS WHEN I TAKE IT BACK FOR ITS NEXT SERVICE CHEERS  :) ;D ??? 8)

The Venox comes with a 38 tooth rear sprocket. The replacement is a 44 tooth specially made by SPROCKET SPECIALISTS out of California. The kit includes a new chain which also should be changed if you have any milage.

( + new chain )

WOW>>> I'll tell you how this is gonna go aus, That sprocket will have you pulling the front end in any gear. You will have TONS of torque. You will loose perhaps 5mph on the top end, but that is mph you would have needed a long down hill to use anyway. Piwyr... Thank you for the help!
