Is gas getting to the carb? When I reinstall my carb, it takes quite a while for gas to fill the bowl.

Try a one second shot of carb cleaner or starting fluid into the intake of the carb while trying to start it, don't get your face too close in case it backfires, it should fire for a couple of seconds/run & die. If not do a compression test if it's low you may a valve hanging open. If it's not low compression you could have a weak spark, if so the spark would be a yellow color, good spark will be white with maybe a little blue.

Did the new carb come with the elc. choke or did you have to use the old one. you may to replace with new if it did not.

thanks.
yes I tried the direct gas to intake it fired up. there is white lightning spark. no it the new carb didn't come with new choke. but I tested the old one and it read about 15 ohms on the volt meter.

*UPDATE* I got a new choke and still nothing.
there is fuel getting to the carb.
should all the vaccums to the intake be            blocked/plugged or left alone?

to recap everything.
I got a new carb with choke.
there is fuel getting to the carb.
there is spark.
engine does turn over when fuel is applied directly to intake.
when starting and looking at the carb. I do not see fuel ejecting out from the carb.

thanks again guys.

The lines should all go somewhere.  You might have a drain line at the bottom of the bowl that just hangs down, but if any of the lines are creating vacuum when you are trying to start it, they should be connected to something.

yes thank you. im also considering blocking the pair system/egr valve. maybe I'm not getting the suction I need to extract the fuel to the intake. idk. but as is everything connected, nothing's starting the engine

Any thoughts?

Have you tried plugging all the vacuum ports off at the carb? Just because something is new doesn't mean it's right. Try blowing air through all the openings, Jets, air bleed... of the carb & make sure air comes out somewhere. Pull the carb completely apart when doing this. Jets bleed to the bore, air bleeds into the bowl, etc. Look for any blockage in the jets. Main jet should be at least an 85. Turn the pilot screw all the way in before taking it out & count the turns so you know where to reset it, should be around 1 1/2 turns.
