NO POWER - HELP :)
« on: August 19, 2016, 03:10:08 PM »
Hi friends, I am posting this for a friend and her little 50 cc has lost power.  What can this be?  She wrote this below to me.

When I say hold back, I mean its like she has no more power to go more then 53.  She almost makes a putter sound when you try to push her.  Even going downhill, she screams like she is maxed out.

Thanks,
Kathryn.

At 53, she acts like she does when I am going at like 70\75 downhill.  Its like she can't do anymore

The consensus here is: 1. 50 cc speedo's are quite optimistic (53 is probably really 45 to 50 mph) AH! You are in Canada, right? Y'all do stuff in kph I think; 2. 50 mph is about all you can expect from a 50 cc.

Starting over, mph or kph? Is 53 different than what it used to be? What did it used to be? What brand and model? How many miles? What maintenance and/or changes have been done/made? There are lotsa gurus on this forum and likely one or more will have a solution or a conclusion that will be right on the money but they will be askng these questions first.

I'm no expert... But I think she might need another couple of hundred  of yer standard cubic centimetres..... cos it sounds like she's wringing the neck of that wee moped.....

Even 53 Kph is 33 Mph and plenty fast for a 50cc. The norm is these bikes are 35 MPH limited so they may be governed as well.

I use to own this bike for almost 10 years.  It ran very well.  I kept it good.  It was fast for a 50 cc.  I could easily get it to 70 km's an hour.  If it is only going 50 that it is struggling.  It is a Hyosung 2005 50cc.  I sold it to her a little over a year ago now.

An 11 yr old 50cc.
Geez how old do you have to be to catch a break?
I've lost a few mph myself....so far no one has reported me to a forum!

Hi Scooter Girl ... err , I think your friend needs a bigger cc scoot !  Sounds to me that she's being awful cruel to a little 50. Maybe she should even get a 650 Yamy cruiser  ;D ;D ;D.
Regards.
