Saw one of these while donutting on a scooter
« on: August 20, 2016, 12:42:16 AM »
While sitting on the patio of Tim Hortons yesterday , in the dark, having coffee....this pulled up and stopped at the light in front of the donut shop.
Superb appliance white, bright red tail lights lit up the rear like a parade, dash lights visible from my angle.......this thing was spectacular in the early morning dark. Never been a Corvette fan ....but this thing impressed me.

Nice, but I love some of the older classics.  This was parked outside a pasta cafe a while ago.

For early French Metal...this is my fav classic muscle car.
The Citroen Deux Chevaux .
Tear up half a fresh baguette, & put the morsels in behind the grill. To get going in this front wheel drive beast you turn that front handle. It drops the bread in front of the 2 ("Deux") squirrels....jump in the suicide door, pull the gear lever straight out of the dash, toss it over your shoulder, mind the cow, release the board from the lone rear tire, and Bob's Your Uncle -- away you go....with only a bit of belt slippage and squirrel "chatter".

The top rolls back so you can fit a medium sized milk cow, or 4 goats in there with you.
The seats are early lawn chair aluminum frames with canvas stretched by side springs. There is somewhere around 45" > 48" of suspension travel (no one knows for certain - as none have ever been bottomed) These have been seen to corner on two - or fewer wheels, thanks to the first gum radials from Michelin rubber plantations in what is now Ho-Chi-Nam..
Parts are readily available at most Metro stops. The lone wiper is hand operated so that it rarely fails and the fold down windows provide splendid ventilation. Security is supplied by the lack of door handles or any other means of entry, save for climbing in the roof.
There is a new red rag in the open glove box for signaling turns or stops (if able) - and why use two headlights when one will suffice at the speeds this '2CV' is capable of.

The French were so far ahead of Detroit and Stuttgart.

As far as Vettes go like the old C2s the best.

But I'm a basic guy and my retro project at the moment is good old air-cooled junk. Lol.

VW aircooled engine in your buggy AMAC?
I forget what those fibreglass bodies were called....but think the originals are now collectors items....is this one?
Amazing how long VW engine parts have been available.
My first three cars were a/c VWs. Ran the final one daily for 21yrs.
Brought 5 of my 6 newborns home from the hosp. in a VW.
More pixs if you have the time, please.

1600cc dual port on a shortened 1973 VW.
You're thinking Meyers Manx, he was first. I owned one many moons ago. Now a nice one will go about 10k even if their owners think they are worth more! Parts a plenty and cheap. Mexico made beetles into the early 2000s.

Found this one a year ago in a barn, decent body and everything else trashed.
Rebuilt motor, trans, new brakes, wiring, ball joints.......everything!

In this part of Florida we still have a lot of beaches to ride on.
More pics to follow.

Manx, Stig! Do not any of you nay-sayers forget the 2CV held the elevation record for many years at over 14000 feet. Prolly took forever to get to the top and I don't think it was Pike's Peak. Woulda got run over on the way up by a family van!
