Hitting limiter and cant go faster.
« on: August 24, 2016, 04:17:40 AM »
I have a 2009 super 8 150. Malossi variator with 13 gram sliders. Also a yoshi exhaust and uni filter. I get to 62 mph (on speedo) and it hits the limiter. Anyway to get more top end with a new primary gear? I want to big bore it with the 61mm Taida kit but if that is all the transmission can do no use. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

I am not a fan of upgrading the 150 for more performance. It is just too difficult and too expensive for very little performance gains. That being said, I would recommend trying larger carb jets to take advantage of the more free-flowing intake and exhaust. You may be running too lean right now. That is not a good thing. Best of luck to ya.

Just curious.
What was your top speedo indicated speed when your scooter was still all stock?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I know it may sound obvious and simple, but have you checked the air pressure in your tires lately? It is amazing what 3 or 4 lbs can do to the performance of the 150. Other than that, I usually recommend if you want a faster scooter, sell the one you have and go buy one. It will be cheaper in the long run to have a scooter purpose built to run the speed that you desire. Good luck.

My Super 8 doesn't seem to have a limiter.  I saw around 75 on the speedo going down a long steep hill.

I know exactly what RAM means. Mines suffers from the same issue, going down steep Hills out here in Lancaster County, it feels like the engine begins braking at 65 ish mph making the engine sound pingy
