There are a few appearance similarities shared by the coming Kymco LIKE and a Vespa.
Perhaps the most obvious comparison can be seen with the Primavera and Sprint line of Vespas.
The sleek hips; the minimalist front leg shield; the chrome metal passenger hand rail; the tail light area; the dash/instruments appearance & coloring; the slotted muffler; and the shape of the under-seat storage area. While the under-foot body area is much thicker on the new LIKE.
The glorious new shape of the seat will be welcomed by many first generation LIKE owners!! And now offered on a white scooter in red.
Sadly, it appears the white is offered in the poor, but trendy - matte finish! (Some of us like to polish/shine our scooters!)
There are likely not many mechanical areas shared between the two scooters -
but the single rear shock is one.Seen here....
The mono-shock is carried on the CVT side of the scooter.
as it is on the Primavera...
Pictures of the assembly line new LIKE's show that the valve cover and spark plug will remain super easy to access behind an easily removed panel!
Kymco is pretty up-front about this second generation LIKE being offered as a "NEW VINTAGE" design.
Many thought the first generation LIKE was a meld of the old Lambretta and Vespa designs.
A lot of people across the globe came to the LIKE because of its vintage step-through shape. I did - I walked straight past other scoots on the dealer floor to get near the LIKE. This scoot looked European.
There has been a lot written (here) about the gender of this new design, and nearly as much written about it aping the Vespa shape.
My wife still says I look very European when I come up the driveway on my LIKE200iLX.
My 6 kids all thought it was cool, too. (haven't poled my 16 grandkids) So do most of my old Vietnam veteran buddies.
I've rarely sought approval. So, I'd like the white one with the red seat.

PS: If it is offered here in the States - it will likely be at least $2,000 less expensive than any new 150 Vespa.
