long trip and a surprise
« on: September 20, 2016, 04:05:20 PM »
Just finished 2,500 miles in seven days.   No problems with the scooter.
The group I was riding with the smallest m/c was 1000cc.
The pleasant surprise, I averaged 70 MPG when driving at 70-75 MPH on the
interstates.
2012  DT 300i  26K miles,  Bestem 929, Biondi w/s, LED brake/tail,turn, OEM mirrors fairing mount, removed buttstop
2015  GTi300  7K miles, Bestem 929 case, PUIG TS w/s, mirrors mounted to w/s, led DRLs in windguards
2014  Honda CTX700,  35Kmiles, many mods

Which bike did you use? More gas stops because of the scooter's smaller tank?  What was your high mileage day?

Used the Downtown, bigger gas tank, seemed like 2.5 to fill up around 180 miles were the usual numbers.  I carried a spare 1 gallon can under the seat, used it once for a buddy who ran out.  His BMW was getting terrible milage.

The GT presents a real challenge for out of town usage since the gas tank is smaller and the filler is under the seat.   First you have to lift the seat which means taking my clothes duffel off, also, will have to strengthen the seat hinge area.  Ruminating about connecting   an auxiliary gas tank to the real gas tank above the seat.  The underseat storage area is small, dont know if I could fit my tools/parts there.
