First scooter
« on: September 24, 2016, 10:00:08 PM »
Hey folks.   After a lot of online reading I've decided that a 2012 people gt200 looks like my best option for a first scooter. Thoughts?

Looking forward to learning a lot from all of you.

Hey Mark. Just curious man, why did you choose a GTI 200 over a GTI 300? The price difference doesn't seem to be that great.

Couldn't find a used gti300 in my area. Picking this one up for $2600 with only 740 miles on it.  Plus as my first two wheeled machine I'm probably a little more comfortable with the smaller one.

Ain't ridden one, but was heading to check one out when it sold...
Spec's similar to the older S250, so should be a good "Do Everything Well" bike, if not quite as freeway ready as the bigger engine version.
You done fine.  Now just keep the shiny side up, & survive the ride & you're good.
If you ain't taken an MSF basic riding course I strongly recommend it.

Cheers

Thanks Tromper. I did take the course already. :) and yes it was definitely worth it! It was a terrible bike that I was on  but I kept wanting to ride that thing out onto the road and just enjoy the cruise! Lol

Mark,   Either the 200 or 300 will likely do the job for you. I bot a gt300i to sit in the garage next to my Triumph Tiger Explorer. And it's not doing much sitting. Really a blast. My only suggestion would be to try to be patient and wait for the slightly larger engine if you think you might do some touring, or do any two up trips. No doubt the 200 can handle both, but the 300 will give you that extra oomph that you might want once you really get comfortable on the road.

Keep us up to speed on where you are with things. New rider stories and enthusiasm are always great to hear.
