throttle cable recall
« on: October 15, 2016, 12:28:00 AM »
Just wondering how many have received the recall notice and had their throttle cable replaced?  I have mine scheduled for next Friday and just wondering how long a job it is.  I have a 2 hour drive to the dealer so going to be there in the morn when they open, hope to have it done before days end so I won't have to make another trip. Anyone had this done already how was your experience with the recall?

I had my recall done almost immediately after I got the notice....last March or April ? can't say how long it takes, I don't think long, I think they only have to access under the seat, and don't have to take any skid pans off, but I'm not sure. my dealer is only 8 miles away and I'm registered for the street, so I don't even have to trailer it,  I drive it there, have one of my employees pick me up on his way in to work , and drop me off at the end of the day

Thanks for the confidence, I was really hoping not to have to drive back and forth over days to get this done. Dealer also said they would go over everything and check it out before the warranty runs out, not sure what that means but I guess we will find out.
Only issue so far, and not sure it is an issue is a sometime grinding noise when backing up, not always but does it when riding a lot. I am guessing some debris caught in the disc brake pads on the rear, never a noise going forward and not always in reverse but frequently. Will let you all know what I find.

To the best of my knowledge it is the 450i model only. My recall notice from the factory only mentioned the 450i model. The shield on the cable could allow water to enter and cause the cable to freeze in cold weather.

OK the new cable install went well only took about 2 hours, dealer went thru the entire machine and looked everything over, made sure all was adjusted as it should be and found no problems or issues. Just a nice piece of mind for the upcoming winter season. Thought I would order a spare drive belt to have on hand just in case I would need one so I wouldn't have to order then wait for how long??  Wow are those drive belts expensive ...just shy of 140 bucks!!  Last belt I bought was for my older Praire and that was a Kevlar belt at 95 bucks and I thought that was bad......hope these belts run a long time..

I should be picking up my 2015 UXV 450i within the next week. How can I know this recall was done or not? Obviously I'll ask the dealer since they sold the unit new and have suppose to have done all the maintenance on the machine since it was born.

Yep, have them confirm the serial number on the machine as whether it was involved in the recall. There was a posting of serial numbers that were involved....I think on the Kymco website??? I would call your dealer right now to be sure it was taken care of before picking up your machine. No sense making two trips!!

Yeah no kidding! Especially when its pretty much a 3 hour drive, maybe more pulling the trailer! I'll call them tomorrow as they are closed on Mondays.
