Your dream scooter ride ?
« on: October 19, 2016, 11:31:38 AM »
You hit the lottery & quit your job. It is summertime.
Now, where would you like to go touring on your new, broken in scooter?
And what scooter would you be  riding?

I was 19 & wife was 18. We lived in Amherst, Mass. I bought a new white Honda 90 (because we both disliked cars) and we toured the heck out of New England , two up on that thing. Had a blast. That was a long time ago and before 6 kids.
Now....I'd  like to tour Switzerland on a new Silver Wing.
How about you?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I have a SW and is road worthy for a transcontinental trip. Several years ago my buddy Will who lived in Allen, Tx (near Dallas) asked me if I wanted to ride the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia? We both owned Goldwings at the time and began to plan our trip. He and Terry though decided they needed to be closer to their daughter in Seattle who has a special needs child to help her out so they moved to the NW. He wants me to ride up to Seattle and then the 2 of us ride across Canada, east to the Maritime Provinces. He owns a cottage on the Cabot Trail so we'd have a place to stay. That trip is on my bucket list. Oh, and Will is riding a new Indian touring bike these days.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on the new Kymco AK 550 ( or Sweden).

Though I love my DT, if I won the lottery I’d purchase a BMW C 650 GT, or something my wife would feel more comfortable riding on for long distant riders. My best friend lives in Nova Scotia, and I’m considering riding up next summer for a visit. This would involve traveling through New England, then take the ferry from Main to NS, then on to his place.

I'd get a Vespa GTS and ride across America.

my goal is a ride to Deadhorse, in the winter, not on a scooter, on my V-strom, I am prepping my bike, adding am auxiliary charging system, I will have a total of `1400 watts available for extra lighting and heated gear along with enuf CCA for extreme cold

Get me a Racing King 180 and I would drive to all 30 major League Ball parks to see a game as well as going to see all 9 CFL  teams at home.

Ha...Ohio.

As far as where and on what, I have too many places I've flown over in the US that I never visited, so would stay stateside initially. Haven't toured with my gt300i so can't comment on long distance comfort for an old guy my size. Day dreaming about visiting small town USA via the back roads sure leads me toward my 300i, but if that didn't work I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the BMW C650GT. A super comfortable touring bike.

I would be happy with a Honda SH300 or a Kymco GTI300.

I'd love to ride Europe.  Maybe a week in Corsica on a Vespa.  Or the Alps on a T Max.  Riding the Alps has always been on my bucket list and I will do it someday although probably on a motorcycle.

In addition to Europe if I win the lottery I'll buy an RV and a trailer to haul a couple of bikes and head out west for a few month's of exploring.  I had a awesome ride out west in 2015 and I really want to go back and ride that area some more.

Some pics from that ride:  http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/southwest-by-versys.1066154/

I did a full ride report of that trip here: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/southwest-by-versys.1066154/

Some of the best parts of the ride where the unpaved roads.  I'd love to ride them on a scooter just to show it could be done.

Klaviator, your SW trip looked awesome. Will read more of it later. Reminded me of my 08 3000 mile trip to Colorado on my Burgman with 4 other Burgie riders. It was the ride of a lifetime for me and remains my favorite all time motorcycle trip. Hope to do that again someday.
