A piece of variator "fell off" Dangerous?

Today i changed back  variator weights back to the original from DrPulley 15g.
 I feel that the engine has to work harder than it should, I could be wrong, but this is not my question, but:
I have done a variator tools myself, but got my purchased from Aliexpress yesterday and wanted to try it.
Then slipped the tool and a sliver of external variator  went off
Is it dangerous to drive with the splinter away or should I buy a new asap?

just thinking !!   it is not much out of balance , but I would buy one,  it is like riding with a tire not balanced, it will wear something in time,  de dee

Yes, replace it. It will have a vibration very noticeable above idle getting worse as rpm's increase.

Yep. Not a structural issue but it is a question of balance. (Couldn't resist a Moody Blues reference for all the geezers)

This happened to me. I just broke off the opposite fin of the variator so it would balance. The broken fins have no effect on the bike, even at 110km/h.

How did you break it off ? I mean  what tool did you use?
Because when i broke it it wasnt controled 😂

Pretty practical idea to break off the opposite fin! KISS method:keep it simple, sailor. A Dremel tool could etch the surface of the opposite fin then clamp on a ViceGrip plier. Could grind them both flush. These fins are the fan that keeps the variator cool by circulating air.

Dremel was a good ide!
But i got to ask if you were ironic about the ide?
I didnt understand the KISS method 🙄
I mean since its cooling the variator.

It will only be for maybe 20miles since i ordered i new one.

I just used pliers to break off the fin, they are quite brittle.

I took the broken fin and drawed the same pattern as the broken on the opposite fin.
Then tock a dremmel copy and sawed marks in it and then broke/snapped it with a clutching tongs.
Then use the dremmel to soften the edges.

Will work  fine tempoary i think tho it is almost winter here with 2-8 degrees celsius.
