It's a lovely bright sunny day here today, but f-f-f-freezing. (or maybe a degree above it). The roads were clear and dry though so I had a quick blast up to town and back.

One thing though, it was a sod to push out of the shed - almost like I'd left the handbrake on. So whys that then? Drivebelt stiffening up with the cold? Transmission fluid thickened? Brakes maybe stuck on a bit with the cold?

It was fine when I got back however.

Watch out for icy manhole covers and steel plates/grates. If it’s just above freezing, they can still be incredible slick and dangerous.

Thats a good reminder for everyone Scooterwolf. I know all the manhole covers etc on my regular trip up to town like the back of my hand and my cornering lines are adjusted accordingly, but sometimes you get the odd unexpected hazard like today where a farmer had diven out of a field and on the the main road in his tractor - covering the road in clumps of frozen mud.

Know you roads for dark rides, or winter rides.

 It may be the axel grease being cold and stiff, It will warm up fast as you move,  any one try to move there scooter at 40 below

-5 here this morning. The roads are dry and the weather is clear.....but nah. The Downtown stays in the shed today!

  5 below C.   and the sun is shining,  6 inches of snow last night,  so I put the chains on the tractor,  and spent the after noon moving snow ,.  why did I wait for the cold to put the chains on ,  gets any colder and I will have to put gloves on,.  every body be good and safe Santas  watching,.

According to the weather forecast, it's supposed to go from -4 as it is right now to +12 at the same time tomorrow and on to a high of +14 later in the day and remain 'warm' (relatively speaking) for a week.

You've got to love the Gulf Stream....

A woman has discovered a 1m-long venomous snake wrapped around her Christmas tree in Australia.

The woman called for help to remove the tiger snake from her suburban home in Melbourne, Victoria, on Sunday.

Snake catcher Barry Goldsmith said the reptile entered through an open door before curling up among the decorations.

Tiger snakes, found along Australia's coast, are highly venomous.
