Hello folks about 3 weeks ago I was on here feeling you out about the Xciting 250 as were going to look at one for my wife. We finaly got to check it out and it was way to tall for her. We need her feet to hit the ground. We have looked at some other models and we like the Grand Vista 250, but finding one in good shape is a tough task. We don't mind some scratches but broken parts and dry tires with cracks are a no. We have come to the conclusion that she likes that type of scooter with the open front . We will continue to look for the Grand Vista along with the People GT300i , People GT200i and GT250 S. i look here every day and on the computer daily looking. We really like the Kymco and could even possibly look for a new left over. Ride Safe everyone. Wish us luck.

A couple of quick observations.
The Grand Vistas seat height is about 2" less than the Gti300 so if flat footed landings are important I'd sit on the Gti before looking too far.

I'd also skip the 200s for the 300s. Same weight far less power.

Will she need a freeway capable scooter?
If not, maybe look at some 125 or 150cc scooters....will be lighter to handle, and maybe sit lower.
A little Honda PCX 125 or 150 are very popular scoots - rather more $ than a Kymco though.
Agree that proper height for safe feeling on a two-wheeler is important.
While you can remove foam from seat to fit rider....issue is that most stock scooter seats are barely comfortable as stock...without removing foam!

She will not be on the freeway but would not want anything smaller than a 200cc. We are going to keep looking for a newer Grand Vista and would like to check out the People GT300. Its winter no rush. We were going to attend the Motorcycle Show in NYC but Kymco is not their so we are not.

I will be at the motocycle show on Saturday, looking for a companion for the DT300. I will post some pictures, this weekend, of the latest bikes and scoots. I am a bit disappointed,that Kymco doesn't have a booth,at these shows

Only saw 2 scooters at the show. A Honda PCX 125 and a Forza, in the background. I checked out the Yamaha Bolt, Kawasaki Vulcan S and The new Honda Rebel CMX500, which should be available in April. Really liked all 3. Bolt was a little heavier than I expected. Vulcan S was very comfortable, you can get it in 3 different ergo fittings,from the factory. I'm leaning towards the Rebel. Very light and comfortable, not much heavier then my DT300.

on high speed roads, a 150 air cooled scoot might be better for her. I know of a man that bought his wife a Suzuki Burgman 400. The scoot was too big and heavy for her. She dropped it in a mountain curve and broke her leg. My wife has a Scarabeo 200. It will do 75 mph with me on it. At the time I weighed 195 pounds. Wish I had bought her a 150 size scoot. She rides it ok but, a 150 would have been fine for her.

A lot will depend on your wifes body weight and the type of riding she plans on doing.

The GT300I is a step through, which is good. On the other hand, it weighs 364 lbs. dry.
It will do 90+ mph. I own one and love it.
Still suggest you let her try out a good quality 150cc. If she is of average weight and her plan is to ride local, I still think this would make her happy in the long run.

Don't know where you live but there's a nice 2011 GV on Dallas CL for 1850.00 in like new condition with 150 miles.

Well we are part of the Kymco family. We bought a 2012 People GT300 from a member onthis forum. I know some of you had concerns that it would be too much for a new rider as this scooter is for my wife. I think she will be fine. I found a basic rider course near us in NJ that will let her take the course on this scooter. I have 3 months or so get her aquainted with the scooter before taking the course. Its a beautiful scooter will post pictures soon.

I think you made a great choice. My People 300GTi is a great lite weight do almost everything bike. She will love it!
