Genuine KYMCO brand L.E.D head light globe bulb
« on: January 02, 2017, 01:57:43 PM »
Gday All,

Welcome to the year 2017

This is the year KYMCO  are updating their model range of motor scooters to include L.E.D head lights!

The new 2017  Kymco AK550 sports motor scooter will come factory fitted with L.E.D  head lights!

Its about time!

But heres why I care, Can we get a genuine KYMCO brand spare part L.E.D AK550 motor scooter head light bulb  and fit it to our older motor scooters?

Anybody got access to the  KYMCO  spare parts inventory system?

I dont know about that, looking at the technical specifications of the H7 automotive light bulb, it looks like a single filament incandescent at 12vdc n 55 watts

when you put it against the technical specifications of the HS1 automotive light bulb, as recommend by the manufacturer

its a dual  filament incandescent at 12vdc n 35 watts low beam, 35 watts hi beam AND when working together, 70 watts passing light

so using single filament H7, where you should be using a dual  filament incandescent you lose hi beam AND passing lights

But thats just technical specifications,  Hows the L.E.D working for you in the real world?

My Kymco MyRoad 700i uses 3 H7 bulbs (2 for low and 1 for high relying on different shaped reflectors to get the light where needed).

I'm not sure on the Kymco bikes in other markets but the Suzuki Burgman 650's use different bulbs overseas vs the US market.

I somehow doubt that the AK550 being a all new with LED headlights uses a custom housing and a standard type bulb LED. In all automotive applications the LED bulb is integrated with the light housing and not separate. I see no reason Kymco wouldn't do the same so a aftermarket LED conversion bulb seems your best bet.

For now on my Kymco MyRoad I have installed Sylvania SilverStar Ultra bulbs as I have done on my Suzuki Burgman 650's. I like the slightly brighter but also whiter light these produce. I have a HID conversion that I haven't installed for the Burgman but I am interested in the Opt7 LED bulbs as the Burgman guys seem to like them.

I never thought different countrys would demand different light bulbs!

You may well be right with the  KYMCO AK550 being an integrated LED headlight, but it never hurts to ask  ;D

This looks interesting!

http://www.opt-7.com/fluxbeam-motorcycle-led-headlight/

Although the warranty looks dodgy

"OPT7 happily accepts returns for most orders up to 60 days after the original purchase date.
Please note, the return shipment tracking must show "Delivered" to OPT7 prior to the expiration of the 60 day return period."

http://www.opt-7.com/warranty/

Why would I, the  potential customer care when the shipping company gets its job done? as long as its lodged by the date, the  customer should be fine.
