Starter always engaged!

This morning i get the call of my brother... im outside your office. Bike's making a weird noise!
Running... starter never stopped. Spinned all the time. Without ignition key also. Had to take out the battery cables. Disconnected the starters electricity and now its on kick starter. (Nice 125 feature hehe)
The bike wouldn't start if brake not pressed and as i said before even without the key the starter wouldn't stop!
I guess security switches are working and starter button doesnt seem to be because it doesnt make a difference if key is on or off!
What could be wrong?? I might take the starter out and take it to get it repaired but before i do so... i wont mind any advice before!

I thought the same! Never ever messed with a starter. Hard and repairable?

Not hard. You know the starter works 'cause it runs when it is not supposed to! The relay is usually on the right hand side of the bike near the rear. You will have to remove at least the seat tub to see it and may have to remove some body pieces to actually get to it. Make sure the bike is in a warm area for awhile if you have to remove body parts. Things break if cold!

I will bet a stuck starter solenoid/relay.

Had this happen so many times.  It's infrequent, but it's alarming and seemingly random.  I've had to replace the relay twice --- and the Like 200i only has < 7,000 miles.

The (relay's internal) switch gets "sticky", due to a variety of circumstances: operating temp, etc.  A good thump on the seat often loosens it. 

Replacing it is a level-1 task for a DIYer.  eBay sells them for $10-$15 USD.

Those starters pull more amps than any other thing on the bike. DC amps=heat and those contacts in the solenoid arc ever time the relay sends a signal. Once they have welded themselves together you have direct connection from battery to the starter motor Key on or off it's going to turn over, but you need to put key in start position for the relay to come into play. It the relay sticks closed then it just keeps on trying to start.

Very good tip on the plastics Karl. Cutting or drilling windshields is a no no also if it's very cold.

Starter relay with RED rubber cap sits here on frame of the LIKE200i - probably same on the LIKE125.
Relay is sitting in a rubber cover, just pull relay/boot from the clip. No screws, just pushed into two clips welded to frame.
The nearby coil IS a bear to get off because mounting screw heads are on body panel side of frame. (but it can be done without removing panel)

Awsome!!! I havent seen his scoot since that day. He is in uruguay on vacations so next week he'll stop to get his scoot fixed by me.
I was planning to get a universal relay switch and see if it works. If it does... ill order the right spare and wait till someone travels to the states

Today he stoped by..took the relay out. 3 taps on the ground re conected without the starter end and it clicked. Connected the starter en... didnt crank so it was a good sign. Turned the key and pressed start.. nothing happened! Was getting all excited and then key on brake pressed and start button and voila!! Fired up!!!
Key to off position seat back on and he owes me big now

.....actually, I think this Kymco forum has a pretty darn big following most days!
Posts like yours - a problem....then the fix...are super.
Because....when properly repaired, the Kymco LIKE always wins the race !!

Fabulous! Put in the damned solenoid and hit the button and (oops) turn the key on and it fires. That's what a Like is all about. Good job beermak.
