A mild ride

Not as pleasant weather-wise as hoped for today. Warm enough at 12 degrees, but quite breezy. Still, it's very mild for February....long may it continue!

A shorter than planned jaunt into the countryside to Suenos Stone - a 9th Century carved Pictish standing Stone

It's made of sandstone and to stop the erosion, they encased it in a huge glass box. Last year though, a few wee ballbags decided to smash some of the glass panels, hence the construction barriers whilst it's under repair.

It's still fascinating though.

Was that 12 degrees Fahrenheit? Geez, if so you're a tough hombre as I don't ride below 30. However, I don't have heated gear either. Rode the SW yesterday and was a lovely 80 degrees. Interesting rock you have there mate.

Nah, even I'm not tough enough to ride in 12F!

It was 12C today (I always get them mixed up as our telly weather often quotes both). So, 53F, which is very mild for us at the time of year.

Interesting rock you have there mate.

If only I could read ancient Pictish!

Looks like an enjoyable ride with some history thrown in. Would love scootering around over there.

That bottom shot is my kinda road. Well done!

The midgets  :) aren't too bad around here. The midges however, are a different story......

The wrong side of the road!!!? Wash your mouth out. The left side is the right side, everybody knows that!

Everyone knows the right side is the correct side Snorvey!  ;) They are just starting to incorporate roundabouts here where I live. It is UN-believable how so many people have such a hard time dealing with such a simple and elegant concept! Many will just stop as if it were a 4-way.

Roundabouts are way more efficient than 4 way junctions - at least according to Mythbusters :-)

Roundabouts are quite good fun though and, if you find a quiet one, you can go round and round many times and get some extraordinary lean angles in (I;m not saying you should do this btw - although not illegal, the police might take a dim view of your handling test.

The downsides are lorries spilling diesel from overfilled fuel tanks (not si much of a problem these days due to changes in legislation) and multi wheeled lorries tearing up the tarmac as the drag the non steering wheels around the roundabout
