It's a pain, I know, but every ride I take in the winter where there is nasty stuff on the roads - I give the scooter a rinse and a bit of a wipe with a pump garden sprayer, The green plastic kind from local hardware store.
Then I use the electric leaf blower to dry it off.
Mask off areas where spray paint is to be applied (heat paint on exhaust, etc.) and give things a squirt.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

If you ever decide to treat the muffler, make sure you get high temp paint.

I've used BBQ paint on the black portions or a couple exhausts.  It's a bit soft, but since you'll end up having to redo it for the same reason you'd be doing it in the first place anyway.
One of the fellahs in the burgman forums drops his exhaust once a year, cleans it and repaints it.  Really not that tough to do, & then you're done for the year.
