i Love making video's so I think I will.  I will make sure I am pretty good at it before I do them. I was just at the garage and the boy's thinks my back brake is still got lots of brakes.  I want to take it off to be sure.

Kat, it is frequently unnecessary to take the disk brake apart to inspect the pad wear...
You may look at their thickness, and wear pattern to make a preliminary decision.

If the fellows at the garage have blessed them, chances are they are serviceable.
They are indeed motivated by their service rate and need to sell parts to call out a defect if apparent.

Gosh are you having fun with this !

Yes having loads of fun through learning and taking on the challenge instead of being fearful and depending on others not to mention giving out loads of dollars for a simple job I can do myself. You don't grow by allowing others to do everything for you.

Perhaps I might try this...  :-)

Have you considered purchase of a marginal moped off Craigslist or other local source ?
They are fun to tinker with, simpler, and all the same principles apply.
The best one I've bought was a Motobecane for $200 which ran, yet had an interesting feature.
(I shall search for the photo this week...)
From time to time, they are far less, and even offered free.
You could tinker and learn, while not jeopardizing your nice scooter.
Perhaps you could build a racing ped ?

There's a very experienced  rider on the Honda Forza forum. The first thing he did was take every single panel off of his new Forza to see what she looked like  under there.
This, while all others were trying to get courage enough to pull one panel to check the spark plug.
$$$ motivates many (most?) of use to learn how to self service.

At today's prices, we should expect more than a few minutes behind the curtain for an intimate inspection Before purchase !

Actually, I was Very impressed with the ScootersWest video about the frame replacement for a 5 mile old Vespa that buyers friend wrecked. Engineering and component quality are far superior than ever before.
Today, I would be bold enough to say, most vehicles exceed the terms of their warranty, with scheduled maintenance only.

Yet I do know any number of people who have new vehicles delivered to the shop of their mechanic for engine tear-downs to install performance parts. I have left the mc dealership with a bag full of performance parts, and more on order...

Still, fiddling can lead to heartache.

I used Youtube as a reference before I replaced the drive belt and installed sliders.   Just gave me heads-up on what to look out for.
