Just bought a bog standard 2012 Agility 50. What now?
« on: April 17, 2017, 03:19:49 AM »
Just bought it, got it for 400$ has a small issue starting. I changed the oil to 10w30 (or was it 40?) due to climate of my area (NNY). Had gas sitting for 2 years, but I think I've run most of it out, and put in the good stuff to help it. Any ideas?

I don`t really know what you would like to know? How to get rid of the starting issues?

Perhaps that the carburettor is dirty and it needs a clean-up. I would also check the spark plug and properly gap it.
I put in 10w40, manual says 10w30 (on the top of my head) but I`ve had no problems so far.

Good luck!

Please describe the "small issue starting".  Also, how does it idle after it is warmed up?.

Not very well, i have to give it gas while i hold the brake, otherwise it stalls.
And it starts up fine most of the time, but sometimes i can hold the thing all day, and it just won't start.

I'm pretty sure the issue is either the automatic choke, or the old gas.

I would expect the carb jets to be clogged from the old gas.  Drain the old gas.  Clean the carb.  Make sure you can see through the jets before re-assembling the carb.  Put in fresh gas.

You seem to be "in denial" about inspecting the carb jets and throttle bore port?  Unknown if a 2012 has "tamper-resistant" carb fuel bowl fasteners.

Might also verify the inlet air filter chamber and muffler exit are not obstructed with nesting insects.

Maintenance guidelines.

It might start when it's cold because, even though the idle jet is clogged, it is getting more fuel from the choking/enriching circuit.  After warm-up, the extra gas from this circuit shuts off.  And if the idle jet is clogged, there is no gas to keep it idling unless you massage it through the main jet with the throttle.

That makes so much sense! Thank you.

Sorry guys, I have never owned a carbureted vehicle, so this is all new to me, thanks for the help though!

Thanks for showing me this, the carb was immaculate, and the jets too, the issue seemed to have been the needle, and the idle screw needing a bit of tightening.
